(IIRC, shortened version of her dad Michael's name.) But not as in MEEEECHA, as the SA official who kept handing her more and more hardware after the US Team rout at the Pan Amercian Games a few years back kept pronouncing. Best server MEEEECHA. Best setter MEEEECHA. MVP, MEEEECHA. lol.
Prior to Jordy's injury, the play-by-play guys were bemoaning her inability to get the MBs involved. Micha's half and a match seemed to resolve that, and it stuck after Jordy returned. Interesting. She def left the team better than she found it while she was in.
From the Department of Things I'd Like to Know: During the on-court celebration right after the Gold Medal game ended, the camera caught Karch whispering something into Micha's ear and it seemed to take over a minute for him to say it. I'd really like to know what he said.

Russ Rose on the Tokyo Olympics:
“I’m thrilled for the selection for Haleigh and Micha and share in the disappointment that Megan had, but my conversations with her, she was always about the team and understood that the coaches are going to do what they thought was best. In hindsight, we would say that, in this case, they made a great call, because I thought Justine [Wong-Orantes] played terrific in all the matches. I thought she was our most consistent player, so that was real exciting, then, of course, our girls participating and actually playing and contributing and being a part of the first [gold medal] for the nation is wonderful. They’re both great representatives of USA volleyball and their families and Penn State. I was thrilled for them.”
