What are the columns numbers reflecting , i.e. What is the full name of the abbreviations? There's a key tab at the top. Here's what it says (though it isn't a particularly fulsome description): Column Key •Δ: Change in ranking since last edition •Rat: Rating overall strength •Pwr: Power rating •HFA: Home Field Advantage •SoS: Strength of Schedule - played games only •SSF: Strength of Schedule - including future games •EW: Expected Wins for remainder of schedule •EL: Expected Losses for remainder of schedule

His answer regarding the "Pwr" rating is that it's more of a predictive rating going forward and is based more on the scores than wins/loses. Which I think is an interesting indicator for PSU's tourney chances.

Well so much for the Massey schedule prediction for the PSU vs MN match.
Also, PSU is ranked #4 in the Rating overall strength column, but oddly enough, he still has them listed #1 in his Power rating column. Perhaps he needs to make adjustments to this column.

I don't think it takes anything into account except wins and losses -- not when or by how much. So it has gaps.

Penn State was dropped to #6 (behind TX and NE) on the Massey Ratings and #2 (from #1) in the Power column. Also, PSU's prediction of a win vs Nebraska was downgraded to 3-2 (was 3-1) and the overall PSU % win guarantee was lowered to 67% (I think it was around 85% before).

I wonder how far PSU has to fall before it stabilizes in the rankings. This has been an epic collapse. Now we will see the true character of the Nittany Lions.

It is amazing the change in the Lions performance by just inserting Kendall at libero. It looks like a new team.

The only thing we can imagine, is that the team did not perform with her at Libero at the beginning of the season. Maybe the correlation of forces is right for this lineup? It certainly is a different team from the one we watched for the month prior.

Sometimes players play better when they feel like they are their teams last chance of coming in to help out - a defensive support mechanism (if you know what I'm saying, can't quite find the words right now).

Agreed, sometimes chemistry and experience have to ripen at the same time for things to come together and produce success. Those few losses probably helped in the fermentation process.

Maybe she needed the season to improve her passing a bit. She had an exceptional game. When she was paired with Rivera, the team really looked good.
