I would think the collapse/fiasco at Northwestern would cause the PSU team to take every Big Ten opponent seriously.

[br There will be several truly excruciating puns with that theme in the match preview (my slacker staff is not an impediment to such tomfoolery, and the only real editorial input has a conflict of interest).

Another fine writeup from Nyline... I saw marked improvement compared to the matches of the last several weeks. Much more organized and calm, disciplined play, little of the chaos that has plagued them. An interesting combination of players against IU and PU, playing Lara quite a bit and Nia as well. All the combinations seemed to play pretty well together, which impressed me. Very interesting to me that with PSU's best overall player to date out for a time with an injury, other players appear to be stepping up and making stronger contributions. Were the other players on the court relying too much on Megan previously? Perhaps Nyline might ask a question of that sort at the next press session, would be curious to hear what Coach says. Seeing her in the walking boot gave the impression she will be back before the end of the Big Ten season. They could be quite potent when Megan returns if they keep playing in balanced roles, eg. she does her share but the others don't do less. Indeed, I too was impressed that they could put forth the effort they did against Purdue with our best overall player, Megan Courtney, out with an injury. Most impressive. Skilled players plus great coaching produces awesome results. That said, I hope Megan is back in the lineup very soon.

Even though I agree that evryone played a notch upward, I would still take my chance with Megan in the lineup. Does anyone know if she'll be back any time soon?

I haven't seen anything about when Megan might return to the lineup. Let's hope it's soon.

I saw an interview of Tashima and she is just the sweetest lady, who has a great perspective on life.

Nice article. Cannot imagine what a scare her parents went through. Truth be told, of all teams in the Big10 I'm glad PSU lost to NU. I've been a Tashima fan every since I read a short bio some time ago. Her father was a beach VB player and taught her the game from a young age. NU is almost always ranked in the lower half of the Big10, but they celebrated the win against PSU like they won the National Championship. Good for them, they played hard and believed they could win that match.

I also was touched by her story and by her glowing, inspiring attitude. Gee, she might have been a good candidate for the ESPY Arthur Ash Courage Award. Just sayn’.
