I totally agree with that, why should you lose a challenge because you had to reverse a bad call.

My initial concerns about the downsides were not realized...and I can't help but think this is going to provide good data about where and what kind of devices need to be installed to improve accuracy in game-calling. E.g., a couple years back, when Jaeli Winters was playing at Creighton, I saw they used cameras on the floor for end line and side lines. Gave really accurate, usable pictures for in-out calls. I could see a day when some of such calls might be replaced by devices rather than refs.

The hawkeye system in tennis has completely consigned line-call disputes to history, although I have to admit I do miss the resulting 'discussions' between players and umpires. I don't see why the technology can't be applied to volleyball. Line judges could then be re-named Touch Judges or perhaps 3rd Officials and be allowed to focus totally on block touches, service foot faults, antenna violations etc.

Jesse Tupac spent some time on Russ Rose’s staff as director of operations at Penn State. Here’s a quote from Rose in the press release accompanying Tupac’s hire:
“I see an exciting future for North Dakota volleyball with the selection of Coach Tupac to the position of head coach. He was a valuable member of our staff and he and Kristen [Hahn Tupac] will be valued members of the Fighting Hawk community."

All these goings-on will give us lots to talk about this year.

Ethan and I decided to delete an Instagram post about Salima at ND because it really didn't have any "news" content. We try to provide information about other programs without going overboard on that coverage. We always appreciate feedback on how we're doing.

Even for Salima, that's effusive praise for Dyer. Sounding like a great team. Luck of the Irish
