When playing teams of Minn's quality, there is less margin for error. When we got a good pass, Hord and Parker were great. When out of system, much more of a struggle. Still, lots of encouraging signs.

If ever a match illustrated the importance of the serve receive, this was it. PSU's passing was solid during the second and third sets and they won easily.
I just forced myself through the painful experience of watching the last two sets of the match. It really gave me an appreciation for Kendall repeatedly placing serve receives as a 3 for Gabby. In contrast, in the last two sets, Gabby was being forced to race all over the court most of the time.
When Gabby did have a chance to set at the net, she was dead on especially to her middles. But when she tried feeding the middles from the 10 foot line, it repeatedly failed miserably.
On the positive side Jonni and Kaitlyn played at their usual high level. Anastasiya seemed to get comfortable with much improved blocking and shot making. And finally, if McCall can continue to perform at the level she exhibited in this match, she will be a major asset.
If the drop off in the last two sets was due to conditioning, the team will definitely be tested with the busy upcoming 3-match week! Hopefully things will begin to come together and PSU will pull off three straight set wins and emerge with a 5-2 record!
