Well done, PSU. As an aside, did anyone else have problems with their video stream? Mine broke up repeatedly -- froze, jittery. I wonder if the weather had anything to do with that. I'm still a fan of Jake Star -- though he does need to get his Indiana/Illinois straight. And I think someone should tell the PSU producer (do they have a producer?) that showing a replay that makes the viewers miss all or most of the next play is really counterproductive. That happened several times, though it seemed to get better as the match wore on. All-in-all, I was pleased with the result, but I don't think Indiana is a particularly good team. I had trouble with my stream, too. |

Just in case Jake reads us: You often referred to the refs calling a violation. That covers a huge amount of territory and is uninformative. Net violation..on whom...team/player. The refs signal this with their fingers and sometimes we can't see this because you've switched to a replay. A ball handling error? A 2? Inquiring minds definitely want to know!!
While you told us about Dennis getting salty about a call late in the match, we couldn't see anything that was going on. It would be great to see it all.
Finally, about the replays...the BTN platform allows viewers to replay and catch back up on their own. Not nearly the need for replay that there used to be. I might reserve it for plays with close calls or where a player spends minutes tying her shoes lol.

This match showed me that this team can let anybody back in a match. PSU doesn't have enough experience to play poorly and still win. The one difference in hitting is Tori Gorrel. But they also don't have the experience in the back row that they did last year. I think that the lack of experience in the back row in combination with the inexperience in front row makes life difficult and is what leads to the inconsistency that we've seen. YES! But is it just inexperience or something else? After the first two sets at OSU, I thought we had a much different season ahead of us. Of course, the OSU I had seen earlier in the season just didn't show up for those first 2...we outscored them 50-30. Is it a mindset thing? We crushed them so we'll relax? IDK. I just don't know. |
