One play that I really like yesterday was a fake to Hord in the middle and the ball went to Parker who was 3-5 feet to her right. Two blockers went Hord which left Jonni with just one blocker. I could see them doing that a lot, as everybody knows that PSU is going to go to their middles if at all possible.

Lotta pictures!! Thanks for them. You're getting pretty good as a photographer! I haven't looked at them much before which I wish I had. I think I'll go back and look at some of the others. It's interesting to see close-ups of the girls and start seeing their personalities. It was neat to see everybody congratulating Ally Holland when she got her first kill. I so like the culture that Coach builds on his teams. Everybody is for everybody. No cliches, (edit: try cliques, I was close! We do the cliches, not them.) no jealousy. It is so neat to see such togetherness and teamwork. That was something I enjoyed in the little volleyball that I played.
It's nice to see Anastasiya smile. She comes across sometimes (at least to me) as a "dour" Russian. But she's not. Just shy I think. Thanks again.
There's so many pictures, I'm surprised you have time to see anything of the games.

Looking at the pictures, Gabby seems to be quite a character. It reminds me of a quote by Haleigh Washington (I think), where she said, "Coach doesn't recruit character, he recruits characters."

Looking it up, the quote was by Haleigh Washington and the complete quote was,
"He likes people who are fun and have perspective," Washington says. "He doesn't recruit people with good character. He recruits characters."
Another good quote from Haleigh was, "Coach can talk and relate to anyone. I'm a good conversationalist. He's a great conversationalist." (Not exact quote but close.)
Along the same lines is a couple of paragraphs about Gabby and the Coach
"Eight freshmen on the 2018 roster will get their fill of Rose over the next four years. Blossom is ahead on the learning curve because she arrived on campus in January ahead of the others. She was the lone gopher on newspaper duty -- a tradition of freshmen delivering Rose a stack of newspapers by 9 a.m. The instructions call for slipping them under the door if he's not there, but most often he's sitting in his chair inquiring about a grade, class or the shenanigans they got into overnight.
"Just about every day all summer I talked to him about something," Blossom says. "Before you get to know him all you know is he's this big legend in volleyball. But then you sit in his office and realize how much he wants to get to know you, and you realize he's super cool."

Thanks so much for gettng the transcriptions of the press conferences. I really enjoy reading them and learning about the games, the people and the Coach's view of things. I thought one comment of his was pretty funny. He said when someone asked him about being positive, that "I don't think I'm the one to talk to about being positive. I didn't sign on for that."
I enjoyed learning a little about Anastasiya. She seems to be enjoying herself and enjoying her teammates. It's nice to see the strides she's made in the last couple of games. She might end up being the hammer in the front row that we've been missing for a while. She's got that ability that can't be taught; height.

"We have three middles and two of them are hurt."
We know Kaitlyn is hurt. Is Serena playing with an injury?

We knew something was up cause Coach put Holland in for Gray in set 2. Luckily. Then when Hord's limping got worse, Gray was available to sub for her. So, of the 2 hurt middles, sounds like Hord's hurting worse.

So, of the 2 hurt middles, sounds like Hord's hurting worse. I thought that too. Really, I think most of us (definitely me) have little-to-no idea of how banged and bruised these athletes are throughout the season. I'd guess they all play "hurt" much of the time.

So it's good and not good that we're not playing. Not playing won't help our stats. Double negative, no?
