Well guys, it was an interesting year. My only regret is that I would have loved to see this team after a full season. I think with that experience, PSU could have beat TX. Oh well. I still have Northwestern womens lacrosse to follow.I would like

Well, It certainly was an interesting season. Just sorry the Ladies had to lose. but they put up a fight. Would have liked to see it go to 5 But let's all pull together for next year. Which by the way is only 5 months away.

Do we have any good OH signed for next year? #18 has noodle arms, not gonna do it in this league She hit .333 for the match and was fourth in kills with 8 (behind AC's 9 kills). I agree she looks like she needs to add some strength. Maybe she didn't get much strength training at Rutgers, and the disruptions of this season meant she didn't get much chance this year either? Just a thought.

For the most part Texas played well and is a very good team. I don't think Penn State is that far away from being a final four team in the fall. I thought the libero played much better than the games I saw her at the beginning of the season.
There should be some way to exploit the height of the Texas setter when she is in the front row.

PSU up `1-0. Good to see serve receive better. Was a bit rocky in 1st set. Serve receive was a bit rocky all season.

There are a number of correctible issues which just could not be addressed in this stop/start season. Hard to fix setter/hitter connection when you can't practice consistently.

I suspect Russ Rose wouldn't go here, but I am proud of the grit and determination this team showed, with a ton of injuries and Covid missed practice time and matches. Not an excuse at all -- Texas is a very, very good team, and today was better than PSU. But the team could have just rolled over for Texas, and they didn't. For that, they deserve a kudo or two. Agree! Good job, team. Also agree - I thought it was a fantastic gutsy performance; the girls couldn't have given more than they did. As I said in my post after the 1st set, "whatever happens tonight I'm already very excited about next season" I'm hoping it'll be all-clear to fly over for a double header during September/October. Was I right when I said we are not losing any of the key players?

I like this team. They play hard. But, as Russ said, "we have to do a better job in recruiting." We have missed on landing a terminating outside hitter for the past several years and won't be adding one for next season.
But, we can - to paraphrase - "love the team we're with." They will provide entertaining high-level volleyball next season and compete against the best in the country. They may rank in the top ten. But, without a terminator, they are not a final four team.
I'm looking forward to more fun matches this fall. WE ARE!

England: Hannah Flowers is the only one affected...and I'm assuming she'll be eligible for the 1 year add-on. Coach had complimented her earlier in the season but noted her grad school curriculum kept her away from practices. TBD. We have no true or red-shirt seniors.

Hannah Flowers posted on her Instagram story yesterday after the match: “Couldn’t have asked for a better team to end my career with. #8 out.” Perhaps that means she’s not planning to use her extra year of eligibility in the fall.

I would guess that's exactly what it means. I believe she is in the process of completing her Masters degree. Probably wants to get on with her career.

Thanks Ethan!! Appreciate all the work you've put in reporting on the volleyball team! Especially appreciate the press conferences that you put up. It's really nice to hear what RR is thinking and the players reactions.

Think about Tori Gorrell who turned into a difference making OH in the latter part of her final season. We had two new OHs this year both of whom really could improve a lot. Plus with more time, Blossom will figure out how to make these two very different players more effective. But what Coach said is also true. There are a bunch of teams with excellent talent. So winning is harder than ever.
