Just saw an article indicating that Wisconsin employed a 5/2 in a Spring match against Marquette. The author seemed excited to see something new. Apparently, Wisconsin has been playing in high school gyms around Wisconsin. Seems like a nice thing to do for the fans. Wonder if PSU will adjust how it approaches Spring volleyball.

I'd be interested in hearing KSC's thoughts on that question. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to ask her in the next weeks/months. Somehow, I doubt PSU will travel like that -- vball just isn't as big in PA as in Wisconsin, so fewer venues where people would actually turn out to see the match -- but I really have no idea.

Kind of like the media coverage questions, I see this could be a chicken-and-egg type argument. Aird brought the band into the Xfinity WVB gym at UMD...and they played to an empty house. Until they started selling out the place. Seems like there's possible upside in doing a little bit of innovation/outreach/ razzledazzle. Not to mention that I think the girls of PA should know there's a female B1G HC now. What a role model she can be!
That said, the Northeast does seem to be a little bit of a girls VB desert, aside from New Jersey (IIRC Whitney and someone else fairly recently came from NJ).

IIRC, Aiyana Whitney, Nia Reed, and Ariel Scott are all from North Jersey.

1999 National Player of the Year, Lauren Cacciamani, was also from New Jersey.

I don't think it's fair to criticize KSC for this year's Spring Season -- at least, not without taking into account the following: She was only hired in January. Spent the next three months a) hiring her staff; and b) recruiting players to replace the four key players that either graduated or transferred, as well as the other somewhat lesser players. Now, if next year's Spring Season is totally invisible, we can have a conversation. But with all that prologue, and only 11 players on the roster, I think it made perfect sense to not take the show directly to Broadway -- or Juniata. Reasonable minds will, of course, differ.

Nebraska's fan base is at a different level than all other college teams. IMO spring exhibition matches are not important to cultivate fan following. Some PAC-12 teams had three spring matches. Stanford had none. As a Stanford and PSU fan, it didn't matter to me one way or the other. If Stanford had a spring match I might have gone but it wouldn't have been a big deal.
I haven't been following things that closely since the end of the season. Why did Callie Schwarzenbach transfer out of Nebraska. Long Beach probably won't be a top 25 team.

Second Masters degree. Sixth year of being on a college team (with two years sitting out). Does she need the extra year to vest her Nebraska pension?

Miranda Wucherer, the older sister of highly touted Minnesota freshman Mckenna Wucherer, will use her final season of collegiate eligibility with the Golden Gophers as a grad transfer from Northern Kentucky.
