Well, PUR took ILL in 5, 25-17, 25-17, 23-25, 17-25, 16-14. Looked like a runaway to begin with, but ILL came on to really make PUR sweat. Game was in ILL so, ILL did have home court advantage. ILL did have match pt in the fifth but couldn't convert.

Illinois up 2-1 on Wisconsin at Wisconsin. The fighting Illini playing with their backup setter as an outside and looking really good as team, as a PSU fan hoping they pull out the W lol.
Edit: Welp then Illinois falls apart in the end of the 4th and had more errors than point in the 5th. Wisconsin W

Saw portions of tOSU at IN and MI at NWU
Biggest thing to note, IN setter is the dumpiest* setter I've ever seen. And OSU didn't ever seem ready for it. Made things a lot harder than necessary.
In both matches IIRC the visitor finally pulled it out late in the 4th set ... with great difficulty.
If I were really bored, I'd go mine some data from back during our 4-peat and see if there were this many hard-fought matches. Yawn...
*Maybe there is no such word as dumpingest so I went with dumpiest.

This is as balanced as the B1G has ever been. It is going to be a dog fight for our women to pull out a sixth place finish. While anything can happen, it looks like Illinois and Michigan are the biggest threats from the currently lower ranked teams. I think we will need at least one upset of a currently higher ranked team and a sweep of the two games with the Illini as well as no losses to the other lower ranked teams. That would produce a 12-8 B1G record and a likely invite to the tournament
An 11-9 B1G record might still get the team in based on a 21-9 overall record and a reluctance to leave a legendary program out of the tournament. A 10-10 finish would probably leave us out in the cold..
I would view a 12-8 finish as a tribute to the coaching staff and the team’s effort! Go Lions!!!

I agree the B1G is as balanced as ever. I see their chances of making the NCAA differently. As long as PSU has at least a 50/50 overall record they will make the tournament. It will primarily be determined by RPI and without doing any calculations/extrapolations yet, I think PSU's RPI will be better than many teams in other conferences with really good win/loss records.

I was just noticing that PUR barely beat Iowa at home, 25-23, 17-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-9. Go figure. Just goes to show that the 6 matches that PSU has against the "bottom-feeders" ain't necessarily a given. PUR is off to their best start in 37 years. I've seen Eva Hudson, their star freshman. She's the real deal. From what I can see, she's a shoo-in for the B1G freshman of the year. On another note, I was looking at the team stats for the B1G fro in-conference play. (I know, I have too much time on my handss). It was interesting to me that the hitting percentages for the top four teams are: .298 - MINN .238 - PUR .236 - WISC .233 - NEB Man, that really sucks. Doesn't seem like any team (other than MINN) is really hitting anywhere decently. It gives me hope for PSU!!! As seeyajohn mentioned elsewhere, the B1G really seems to have a lot of parity this year.
Edit1: I just noticed that NEB swept MI at MI, -14, -24, -19. The match or PSU against NEB in NEB could be ugly. Hope not. Plus, it never helps that NEB is ALWAYS up for PSU.
