It would be funny if it weren't so true. Stats on the last two matches have been screwed up. Tho as a silver lining, I like the stats that have been added post match in the PDF format as they have more info that the normal "stats for dummies" has.  |

Lol. stats for dummies... e.g., whether someone played a particular set; whether they started that set. Who the opp was serving to, how well they did (e.g., Maddie did really well). But no play-by-play.
BTW, watching TOSU a couple days back, stats were on-again-off-again. The booth kept trying to keep viewers updated but only had a few opportunities; the rest was, sorry folks...

Yeah, no play-by-play sucks. Sounds like the stats problem is a platform problem, not an individual team problem like I was thinking. I hope they get their act together before the match starts tonight. I really like the replacement stats. It's nice knowing the total assist attempts, total serve attempts etc. Maybe I'll start a new company and publish RR stats so people really have an idea of how someone is doing. |

Better check to make sure RR Stats has not been trademarked already. I think volley ball stats are for the most part arbitrary and, technical delivery issues aside, rather difficult to keep. Whether a pass is perfect or not, what constitutes a dig or an error, and even what is ascribed as an attack is in many instances in the eye of the beholder. Many sports have a similar dilemma (what is an error in baseball?) but due to the speed of play, the volleyball stat person has a harder job than their counterparts in other sports. So while viewing stats is lots of fun, I often find them not to be terribly useful. |
