Up by 10...what could possibly go wrong now? Exactly what I was thinking at the time!!! Congratulations to the ladies for the win, but must they keep us on the edge of our seats. Even in the fourth set I was asking my self when the big comeback was going to happen. It is a joy ride that's for sure, well I guess I'll never need a pacemaker all I have to do is watch the cardiac kid's

Was not available for most of sets 2/3/4...why do you think MSt collapsed? They were so powerful. Just picking off Hampton every time I could steal a glance. I went back and looked at the play-by-play in the 4th set. From the time when PSU was up 8-6 until the score was 21-10,
-- Erika had 3 kills and then Rollins took over and had 6 kills (a number of which were tips) and then Jonni had 2 kills.
Erika and Adanna's kills were from the left side and Jonni's were from the right side.
-- Out of the 4 MSU pts during this run, 2 were from PSU errors and one was an MSU ace. So MSU couldn't buy a kill.
-- During that period MSU had 3 errors and PSU had 2 errors so the errors was mostly a wash.
So for whatever reason, MSU could not stop the PSU hitters, and conversely, MSU couldn't terminate the ball themselves. From what I remember, MSU had few instants during this stretch where they had really good attacks, and the times they did, PSU was able to dig a fair number. It might have been bad rotations for MSU but I don't think so as Franklin has a pretty good attack from the back row. Tho, Franklin was in the back row for this entire period.
The servers for PSU during this run were Erika for 2 pts on her serve, Allie for 2 pts and Gabby for 4 pts. The MSU team was out-of-system a fair bit of the time and the MSU setter wasn't improving the ball that much with her set. Conversely, Gabby did a pretty good job of improving the ball with her sets. The PSU block also showed up; not that there were many pts from the block, but PSU got a fair number of soft touches.

Thanks, Jojo.
I rewatched later and also noted 2/3 times Hord took very successful swings from what looked like the left pin or at least in that direction. I see MBs getting released to OPP on the right but never the left. Did I see this right? New strategy?

On paper/in the detailed box score/stats it looks so much more predictable. And here's something to love: Pritchard had an OK night w/9 Ks. She was 5th. Wow. And pretty evenly spread, except for Rollins who was Rolling.

RR likes to have his players hit from all different places in front line. Jonni sometimes hits from the middle, right and left side. Same with the other outside hitters. The middles hit from many different places also. Erika didn't have a great nite percentage wise. Adanna would have hit around .200 if you take away the last 6 kills she had in that run in the 4th set. BUT, they both came thru when PSU really needed it. Timing is everything.

One thing that was really worrisome about last weekend was that both MI and MSU hit around .290. That's way too high for an opponent if PSU's blocking is good and defense is playing well. This weekend MI hit .203 and MSU hit .143. I much prefer the lower hitting percentages.

Yeah, and IIRC, MSt outhit us last week. PSU hitting% outpaced MSt by .100 yesterday.
