ILL takes the 4th 25-23 on pt out of middle. ILL takes match 3-1. The lollipop serve ended up being a 3 pt pass for a middle kill.

I bet the announcers are relieved. Now they can watch the NEB vs Wisc match.

Disappointed, but this was a match I was wary of -- 3rd match in six days; away match for a team that has struggled on the road; versus a very good team that is better than their record. Classic set-up for a trap match (and I don't mean Penn State took Illinois lightly). On to the next!!!!!

Classic set-up for a trap match (and I don't mean Penn State took Illinois lightly). On to the next!!!!! Me too. ILL has always played PSU tough in ILL. Oh well. It would have been almost impossible for this team to win all of the matches that they "should" win. They're just too inconsistent right now. Not sure why that is. And it really irritates me; should be used to it by now. I keep expecting PSU to play as well as they can all the time, and that just isn't gonna happen. Not REMOTELY realistic. I need to take lessons from you nyline One thing that continues to bother me, is how the team doesn't seem to trust each other. Too many situations where two players are going for the same ball and not letting the player who has the best position take it. Probably is because the team is so new and haven't been around each other that long. Hopefully this will improve as the season goes on.

Bilinovic’s serve receive has been pretty inconsistent the past few games I feel. Illinois was targeting her a lot down the stretch and I think towards the end it was starting to get a little better, but I’d assume they’d want more consistency there as the libero. Do you think we’d see any changes at the libero position? I kind of want to see how Kuerschen would do.

Side note: that last post was my first since officially joining the forum. I’ve read the forum for a few seasons now and finally decided to officially join and it’s great to see all of the up to date information that’s offered on the team, future recruits, etc!
With that being said I’ve only ever been a penn state fan since the Hodge days of course and I really like this team. Definitely has had some frustrating moments but I think once this team gets a true leader(s) they will be able to play more to their full potential (although a freshman I’m really hoping Markley steps up to this roll especially with such high recruits coming in the next few years). I would still pick this team over last year’s also. I think the connection this team has will push them even further into the post season once the get the rest of the kinks ironed out. Taking these loses as big learning curves and hopefully everything will click soon. Fingers crossed!

Do you think we’d see any changes at the libero position? I kind of want to see how Kuerschen would do. If there is a change, I would like Grimes to get a chance. So far, it seems like she has the fastest reaction time, and no matter how the team is doing she is consistently calm, high energy, and positive. I think having those traits on the court for most of the match would be so beneficial. nittlion - Glad that you're contributing!
