Ugh...they got the #3 seed instead of the #2. That Ohio State loss probably made the difference. So now they have to win 3 games to take it all, and will most likely play OSU a week from Tuesday: www.ncaa.com/brackets/volleyball-men/nc/2023It was probably close but I guess the overall record was weighed heavier than the away record (which usually has a lot of weight). Hopefully that #2 seed curse applies to UH but have to focus on King v OSU first. Excited for the NCAA Champs, Pav said in an EIVA presser that he’s not ruling out Toby returning. Let’s cross our fingers. On a side note: The UH fans are at it again in the other forum fully bashing Vinnie Lopes from Off the Block by merely posting that he thinks PSU would’ve gotten the #2 seed. Expressing opinions and venturing guesses, even without snark or attitude, is still a sin in some corners. |

Because we don't always play well after extended breaks, I'm kind of glad we got the #3 seed and will get to warm up vs. an at-large team (Ohio State or King) instead of being the #2 seed and jumping right into the quarterfinals vs. Hawaii (since I have no doubt that if they were the #3 seed they would advance over OSU/King).
That said, assuming Ohio State will beat King... Can't overlook the Buckeyes since they beat us month, though we did also beat them back in January.

Had a small send off for the team with the wrecking crew and boosters. Toby is off the boot. I still am not sure about playing but with the rate he’s going he might be able to play.

Heard from a friend that a member of the team told him that Toby is out for the season. Not the best news but Sam is a pretty good middle, not as prolific in scoring but I’m sure the boys will figure out something.
This makes Jack Shampine our 3rd middle. Not your typical middle but he has a pretty live arm.
