A win is a win, but gosh was that 3rd set filled with ugly errors on Penn States side. The lack of communication as the match goes on is a HUGE issue, ex: DS (Kuerschen, I think it was) going to set the 2nd ball while Elisaia also going to set it as that's her ball and both colliding leading to an error. Really saw this issue manifest in the later points of the OSU match as well, hopefully it's something that they get better at cause it can really be costly. Nice to see Zoe have a good match though to take some pressure off the middles. Outsides really continuing to struggle which as a fan is sad to see because I know they both have so much potential!! Hoping the match at Rutgers can be used to smooth over some details the team is struggling with because let's face the rest of the scheduled games are not gonna be easy wins at all, even Indiana which used to be an easy win for PSU but man are they looking good. On a brighter note both the middles were on FIRE tonight!!

On a brighter note both the middles were on FIRE tonight!! I think your point about the pins is critical. The team had, for the most part, excellent serve receive passing that led to many opportunities for the middles. But other B1G teams are going to serve more effectively. If there isn't improvement in the percentages for the outsides, it is going to be difficult to come away with wins.

Given that UMD is the leading blocking team in the nation, seemed likely that our pins would struggle a bit, especially OHs. I loved how Zoe let the block go up and delay just enough to push over them. Quite the shotmaker; and how Markley and Williams managed to hit through the double block with some success.
And YES the middles were on FIRE! But did you see that Holland had 32 swings/TAs (only Markley had more)? I'm doubting her number rarely goes above 15. And Clark: 21. Wow. Y'all know what that means: Our passing was REALLY good.
They outblocked us 11-9. #1 blocking team in the nation v #9 blocking team in the nation.
Another good note: Starck was 4-4 from the backrow.

Here’s a recap of Penn State’s 3-1 win over Maryland last night at Rec Hall. Allie Holland and Katie Clark led the Nittany Lions with 14 and 13 kills, respectively, while Gillian Grimes and Cassie Kuerschen had 13 digs apiece. Penn State surprisingly did not hold a post-match press conference, so there are no quotes from KSC or the players. dignittanyvolleyball.com/penn-state-volleyball-beats-maryland-3-1-again/
