Other than the girls falling all over themselves many times, this match was pretty good. Lack of communication on the court keep Iowa in the sets. Why??? Come on coach, what's the deal with the lack of communication? For one thing, nobody knows if Keeton is going for the ball or not. It is so strange to see a player in that position who is so uncommunicative.

Woohoo! Northwestern takes set # 3 against MN. Best announcers tonight, by far: the Northwestern guys.

Yeah, they were pretty good. Seems like some of these announcers will have a future in broadcasting; nice audition for them.
Mike Wolf just said that BTN hopes to bring more Extravaganza's in the future. I'd say limit it to 2 hours and only 4 games, otherwise, it gets too frenetic.

It was way to many matches at once.
I had the computer going and was switchin back and forth but the TV was 2 points ahead.
I didn't enjoy it as I couldnt ever settle in to anything.

Maybe BTN could use one of the four back-up channels they have on DirecTV?

Mediocre performance by PSU tonight, especially in set 2 and middle of set 3. Coach must be pulling his hair out. PSU must be at top of its game on Saturday vs Minn. So strange to see a PSU team be so inconsistent.

Finally watched this match. Wilma Rivera displayed some quickness. She was getting to partially blocked balls fast.
Can't help thinking that coach Rose has been swapping a lot of DS's in matches lately, which could be one reason there are communication issues. Seems like he's still testing out players and lineups. I don't think he's happy with what he has. Seems like Whitney is the only solid player out there right now, everyone else is having ups and downs. Washington and Courtney had poor offense performances, although, Frantti turned it up and really contributed. Seems like we have 3 of 5 hitters performing well every night but hard pressed to get them all firing together.

I need to do the same thing -- basically missed Rivera, what with watching the BTN Extravaganza, and just-too-late peeks onto my tablet for the Iowa match.

Rivera seemed to fast for PSU's own good. she seemed unclear on what her assignment was. Don't get me wrong, i hate seeing a ball drop with everyone just looking at it. but when you've got Courtney there, you need to give her some space, not interfere with her. We don't need 2 players going for the same ball at the same time. Rivera was problematic, despite her stats. It seemed that players were also getting tangled up a lot at the right side pin. there were several points in a row in the 3rd (if i remember correctly) where Wisesetter, RS, and maybe a MB tangled and fumbled the ball. With that much talent in so little space, something better should happen. I feel like i've been seeing a lot of that all season. Is Wisesetter communicating well when she cannot get the ball? In the past, i think PSU players instinctively reacted more often to these situations, which may be better than having to shout. Courtney and Whitney and even Washington seem to easily set when they need to, without much drama. why are we seeing these standoffs all of a sudden?

These digs and touches were coming against a team that could be playing the worst volleyball in the B1G right now. I wasn't excited about anything I saw happening behind the block. I also saw both Courtney and Holcomb blatantly stepping in front of Frantti last night and K. Pierce in the Rutgers match with very little communication. Problematic imo. Not sure what we are going to see next.

I think that may joke may be a bit over-the-top.

Did anyone else notice that while the Iowa announcers sounded smooth, they knew little about volleyball and incorrectly identified players about 10 to 15 percent of the time?

I thought they were easily the worst of the announcers I heard in the seven matches broadcast by BTN. Another thing is that they rarely identified the players responsible for blocks or points -- for either team -- and, as you say, when they did, they made numerous errors. Really poor job.

Yeah, they kept saying "Wiskircher" and every time there was a long rally, they called it a long "volley" or something, that had me laughing. Obviously they didn't have a VB background nor did they do all their homework. Probably should have considering they were given a national audience to audition too for a future broadcasting career.
