I’m heading to the Temple match before flying to Louisville the following day. Anyone have any food or destination recommendations in Philly or Louisville? Philly - If you want to stay on-campus, Temple has a good food truck scene around their student center (Howard Gittis Student Center or also known as "SAC") and on 12th Street around Polett Walk. Back in the late 2000s-mid 2010s, I was at Temple half the week doing volunteer work with students orgs, and my favorite trucks back then were The Sexy Green Truck (next to the student center), a Crepe Truck (on Norris Street), and a hoagie truck on 12th street. No idea if those trucks are still good though. Oh - And there's a good halal truck that's usually parked on 13th street in front of the student center. And not a food truck, but China House on Cecil B. Moore Avenue has good takeout. If you have time to venture into Center City, Reading Terminal Market has tons of good food stands. My personal favorites - DiNic's, Hershel's, Sang Kee, Beiler's Doughnuts, and Bassetts Ice Cream. Reading Terminal Market is also surrounded by Chinatown, so plenty of food/dessert spots in the neighborhood. Louisville - I've never been so I can't recommend anything, though from what I know of Louisville, it's known for the "Hot Brown" and the "Derby" pie. |
