Probably the best the PSU middles have played this year. Hitting yes - blocking maybe not. Mac definitely has figured out where Trammel likes the ball. |

Immense strength of character for our young women to win in that intimidating atmosphere against one of the top teams in recent years. Huge respect to KSC for getting the team to come good in time for the start of conference matches (remember those pre-conference losses?). At times like this I wish I lived in the US - watched the 1st set at 2am UK time, fell asleep during the commercials and watched sets 2,3 & 4 at 6am this morning. Can't wait for Ohio to come to the Rec Hall on Saturday - 11.30pm UK start - might be able to watch the whole match live!

I almost made a really stupid comment; I misread the box score and thought that PSU won the 3rd set while hitting .056 to MINN's .385. I was thinking, how could this be? Only because it wasn't that. PSU actually hit .560 in the third set. Makes just a little bit more sense  |

...One thing I don't get, is why MINN didn't set Landfair out of the back row. PSU was having trouble stopping Landfair for most of the game (Landfair hit .394 for the match). I don't know how much Landfair hits out of the back row, so maybe that wasn't an option. I'm just very grateful that Landfair wasn't in the front row, cuz if she was, chances are that the game would have been going to a fifth set....
P.S. I was reading some comments from the 'Other' forum and someone was implying that Landfair isn't used to playing back row. That would explain why she wasn't set much while she was in the back row.

PSU actually hit .560 in the third set. Makes just a little bit more sense Well hitting 56% for a set does not make a lot of sense either. Was surprised at the percentages. There were (it seemed) a bunch of long rallies which should have knocked both teams' hitting down. I often wonder about the accuracy of the stats. There was a lot to like from both matches this weekend. Also room for improvement in serve/receive and some aspects of defense. But PSU can lay claim to third spot in the B1G which would be progress. |
