With the emergence of Skinner and Plummer, and Drews looking so good, things are looking up for the US women's national team. The gold medal match will be the last for Drews. She's retiring from the national team. I imagine a few other will, as well. |

The teams that have a chance for the gold are (IMHO), Brazil, Italy, Turkey, Serbia, China. Turkey can be inconsistent, one of China's best player is coming back from an injury and Italy has a couple OH's that are injured. My pick, (which is worth what you pay for it  ), is Italy, with Brazil a close second. That being said, any one of 5 teams could get hot and take it all. On July 24 jojo wrote this. He didn’t predict USA’s performance but he picked Italy. Props. |

She's retiring from the national team. I imagine a few other will, as well. Bummer. I didn't realize that. That still leaves Thompson. She can be outstanding if she gets a good connection with the setter.
From this side of 2028, it will be very interesting to see what the USA roster is like in the next Olympics. I'm wondering if Karch will still be around. Somehow I doubt it. On the other hand, he's 'just' 63. (Definitely looks young from my pov  ). The Italian coach is 72 right now. Course, the Italians also have Egonu. Must be tough. |

Now that the Olympics are done, with all of its ups and downs, (really depressed with the men's wrestling-was expecting at least 1-2 golds, whereas the women wrestlers did pretty good), am really looking forward to the PSU volleyball season.
