I was worried about this match. What's wrong with me? I was too, but PSU plays really well at home. We don't play as well on the road, especially against good serving teams, for whatever reason. Passing breaks down a lot when crowd is against us. |

When was the last time a PSU team had only 3 (three!!!) service errors along with 2 aces???
Edit: Off the top of my head, it was generally a red letter day when PSU averaged less that 3 per set.

Some interesting stats:
Jess was the leading the digs over Gill 16 to 14, doesn't happen much.
Izzy with 46(!!!!) assists. Like wow. She only had 50 in the 5 set OSU match.

I just realized, in the poll for this match, only 1 (one) person picked PSU in a sweep. As lionsfan above said, it will be "interesting" to see what PSU does on the west coast; especially USC IMHO. I don't "think" that USC or UCLA have the mindset of NEB, IND, OSU; beat PSU at all costs. I can't remember a NEB match in the last 7-8 years where NEB didn't play well. I just hope USC and UCLA aren't like that.
Edit: It's weird; WIS is like that against NEB. WISC has knoced NEB off a number of times in the last 4-5 years.

That's a result of PSU going 5 with OSU and allowing OSU to have 1 match point. |

Ok. I’ll take my bow. I feel that w only 2 exceptions these women tend to sweep ranked opponents. that was the problem w TOSU…they were unranked.  |

Petition to rank every team we go against from here on out cause if you slap a number in front of the other teams name, our team plays so much better compared to unranked teams.
The 0.250 or above hitting for our RS is still holding strong. Except against Yale ( 4 sets but uit above that) and Ball State (sweep but hit below that)
Alexa played well today. I think her maturity showed. I think Caroline has a higher ceiling as a hitter but Alexa is way lower error and does many defensive things well.
I don't know what changed with Jess but she is going off. I really hope she gets to 2K kills before she's done here. Digs, kills and block numbers are up. The only kyptonite is when she's constantly passing.
Cam has been having a string of not as productive matches. It seems that teams are figuring out how to handle her hitting. I noticed teams soft blocking her in system and not giving her any seam to work with on a double block out of system. I'm sure she'll get back up there. I love her hitting on the right too she rarely gets blocked at that rotation.
Our middle offense has been great. I love that Maggie gets a lot of volume and Taylor is still as efficient as ever even with more attempts. I feel like blocking has fallen a little bit off especially during that OSU match (in the sets they lost). Today was great lots of positive touches but it has felt like there has been less touches recently.
Floor defense has stepped up. Jess, Anj, Gill, and Ava have been keeping more and more balls up. The team's scrappiness has really gone up a level. Passing still feels like a match to match thing. I think they don't get burned as much because we have the National Freshman of the Year (lol I'm claiming it for Izzy) setting and good out of system hitters. But I have a feeling that this will be crucial for biggest matches PSU will have.
The best of this team is still ahead of them and I really hope it comes at the right time. Hoping I get to see PSU host all the way to the Final 8 come NCAA Tourney time.
