Here's the article from NORCECA
USA qualifies to semifinals with unbeaten 5-0 mark
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 6, 2016 – United States earned a semifinal berth at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup by dominating the Pool B with an undefeated 5-0 win-loss record following a straight-set 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-23) victory over Argentina on Wednesday night.
Argentina finished with a 3-2 record good for third place in the pool and a spot in the quarterfinals.
Madison Kingdon and Rhamai Alhassan were the offensive leaders for the American side with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Micha Hancock, Megan Courtney and Alexandra Holston contributed 9 points each in the victory. Yael Castiglione and Tanya Acosta finished with 5 points apiece as the top scorers for the defeated side.
United States outscored Argentina 11-5 in blocks and 9-2 in aces with Hancock adding 6 more aces to her Pan American Cup record now at 37.
“The key for us was the reception as we were able to set up our fast game,” said Daniel Fisher, coach of USA. “When we can play fast it is difficult to defend against us. I think (Madison) Kindon played her best game of the tournament so far.”
“Argentina is not playing well and our level of concentration is low at this moment,” said Guillermo Orduna. “We are going through a lot of ups and downs and playing erratic volleyball.”

I'm sure the US team is way better than the "rest of western hemisphere" teams. Seems like this is all the Micha diminishers on Volleytalk need to discount her performance. Nevertheless, she seems to be outperforming that player from Wisconsin, but we're used to that.

I admit I smile at the consistent underestimation of Micha's impact on the game. As far as Carlini, since the girl wears the USA logo I cheer her on just as I would any other team member. Hopefully they are as successful as the A team today.

I'm fine with that player doing well against other countries' teams. The back-and-forth on Volleytalk brings out the partisan in me. Perhaps I should have closed my post with a "wink" emoticon?

I didn't think Carlini was any better than Hancock. It could be my blue-colored glasses, but I thought Micha did better and brings a certain energy to the floor.

my service keeps getting interrupted. i was able to see in the stats that Hancock's serving wasn't dominant today and that she was pulled for Carlini after set 3 ended.
Let me know if you can see more.

Micha did as well, if not better setting than Carlini. Maybe the coach wanted to give others a chance. Alhassan played great, and she did not play the 4th set either.

Hancock sets new mark, USA wins bronze medal SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 10, 2016 – The United States recovered from a slow start and stormed past Cuba 3-1 (20-25, 25-9, 25-15, 25-9) in the match for the bronze medal at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on Sunday. Micha Hancock laced 12 aces to break her own Pan American Cup record of 11 service winners in a single match set earlier in the week against Costa Rica. She finished the tournament with 50 aces, 22 more than the previous mark of 28 set last year by Cuban Melissa Vargas. It is the ninth overall medal for the United States in the history of the Pan American Cup, including four gold medals, two silvers and three bronzes. Hancock had 15 points to lead five USA players with double digits in scoring. Megan Courtney was next with 13, Taylor Simpson and Carly Wopat had 12 points each and Rhamat Alhassan charted 11. Cuba’s Daimara Lescay topped the losers with 8 points. The Americans outclassed the Cubans in blocks 17-9 and aces 20-2. Each team committed 19 errors. “After playing five sets against Cuba in our first match we anticipated a tough match and wanted to served hard and organize the blocking,” said Daniel Fisher, the U.S. coach. “I am especially proud about our blocking at zone four.” “I want to congratulate United States for a great match. I can’t explain what happened after the first set. But if you can summarize it in one word that one is catastrophic.” “I came mentally prepared to serve hard,” Hancock said. “I just like to compete hard and play hard from the service line. Hopefully we are on the right path.”
