Little shaky, but a win nonetheless. Need to cut the errors in half in order to compete with the better teams.

Somehow I don't think Coach Rose was happy with this victory. But a win is a win.

I'm having trouble thinking of when the last time when a PSU team played very well in that gym. 3-0 I like very much though.

Somehow I don't think Coach Rose was happy with this victory. But a win is a win. I think he'll say PSU played sloppy in first 1/2 of set 1, made too many errors overall, but showed grit in pulling out set 1. Plus, a win on the road in the B1G is a good win.

PSU sweeps Northwestern 3-0. Nice win for PSU!! If we are beating teams that we should be defeating (especially in sweeping fashion), then I'm happy.
Penn State Hitting: .266 Northwestern Hitting: .093

I only caught the last few points of the first set--too tense for my liking, and the second set. They looked pretty good.
(As an aside) My vision's kinda funky as I just had a cataract fixed. The surgery was a success, but I no longer have up-close or computer-range vision for my "fixed" eye and not the best for my soon-to-be-fixed eye. Bottom line: The team looks like a "generic PSU" team from the past few years. And, in that generic mode, they looked like a PSU team playing Northwestern, They did pretty good, from that perspective.
I think the Michigan teams will give us a pretty good idea where the team stands.

Watching the game live...then on replay...some personal observations. The serve receive was really off in the first half of set 1. Three aces against us. None after that. Good adjustments made. I think the passing from serve receive was also a bit off, but the setting was a bit too slow, for the most part, and some questionable choices by the setter...over on 2 with three blockers in front of her, and over on two with no pace and the time and ability to set a pin hitter available. That was a few points lost that were probable winners. I like Abby's setting. She's got plenty of skill. Needs some fine tuning. Bryanna has a bit quicker pass to her middles. That will be so needed against the likes of the Michigan teams this week. Maybe consider subbing Bryanna this week? Defense was good from Keeton and Kendall. Seems like we blocked well, but will definitely need better lateral movement by middles against the bigger pin hitters. Very glad they played tough and won. The chemistry is continuing to develop. I look forward to the Michigan matches...we shall then see where we are...GO PSU!

Didn't see this match but the opponent's hitting percentage is becoming a pattern. If this team is going to get good, it's going to have to be really good at floor defense because the hitting will not be as dominant as we've become accustomed to. Can't wait to see what White and Holcomb can do against the top hitters in the conference.

Agreed! Hopefully team gets good touches/blocks making it easier on the back row. But I am sure they will be giving it 110% defensively!

The secret is to serve better and keep he other team off-balance somewhat. You can't beat every team with your libero.

Just watched OSU dismantle NU in 3 at St John Arena. There was almost no one there except the band ... oh, maybe 300 folks. NU looked like a shell of what it was last year. very sad. not sure the Chan move will pay off any time soon.

Thought I'd post this here:
It's a Simone Lee interview. You should watch it just because Simone has insightful stuff to say. What stood out to me, though, was the way Simone talked about that first set against Northwestern (where PSU was down for most of). She said the girls looked each other in the eye & said "we're winning this set." That's great to hear, if only because last year's team lacked a lot of killer instinct. seeing that sort of team strength is an encouraging sign.
Big weekend ahead.
