This match went just as I expected it to go. Ohio State seems to fall apart when playing Penn State. 20 hitting errors in 3 sets for tOhio State! I expect more of the same in the re-match. Penn State had some big runs and could have made it even more of a lopsided match if not for Sandbothe. She was only thing keeping this match from being a total blowout. If I were a mean person, I could take all of the past matches (videos) against Penn State (back to 2013) and put them on VT match thread for Ramp but I'm not that kind of person

Then again, I don't mind looking back through the historical records to find these nuggets. And rampage, by his own admission, is in a fragile state. Once again, I need to ask him whether he'd consider changing his avatar to Wile E. Coyote.

What a delight to see the hard working, never give up competing for playing time, Laura Broerman, have a good outing and some meaningful playing time. Historically so many have tried and not often gotten much time on the competitive court and yet despite such history they keep coming and trying.
Those maybe the inspiration that the full time players need to focus on and respond to.
Thanks, Laura!

Laura has really stepped it up this season. Great kid. Well done.

Truth be told as to stepping up. She was injured and in a cast all last year. We have seen few PSU players go from that kind of injury to be given court time, let alone contributing like she has. Commentators talk about how many hitters we have that the offense can be spread to. What I also love this year is how our D can be spread. Versus the past, 5-6 DSs are being called in to make just huge contributions, not just serving. In the past, the true bench players would come in, serve (often miss), and immediately leave the floor. Now, Coach is leaving them in and 5 or more of them are all digging and protecting our floor. This looks revolutionary to me, and if i were a reporter, i'd ask Coach about this. I suspect the indirect payoff will be that more great DSs will want to come here. "I want to be L but I'll be able to contribute even as I fight for the blue jersey."

Penn State next 3 matches will measure how good this team is and then UNL coming to town! My personal wish is that PSU beat Wisconsin to keep Carlini 0-per vs the Ladies.

thanks. i'll go to the trouble of typing out five to six in my future posts!! Don't want you to be Cross w/me! What's funny to me is that a few years ago, people on VT were commenting that all the Penn State DSs were 5-6, like Coach Rose had a rule about it. Well, there was the Widget, but they dissed her for her nickname, so height wasn't relevant.
