Certainly seems to me that Minnesota and Nebraska are at the top tier of division 1 volleyball. This Wisconsin team seems to be firmly in the second tier. In the next two weeks, we'll know a lot more about where PSU falls. I imagine PSU will put up much better of a fight than the Badgers have managed though. The Minnesota/Nebraska matches were extremely underwhelming.

Whatever happened to Wisconsin's Haggerty's sister who used to play for Nebraska? There are at least 3 Hagerty sisters. One just graduated from NE. The one at WI is a frosh. There's another somewhere else. All from IL...none wants to play there.

Boy, Nebraska looked good. It reminded me of the PSU-Michigan State game at home when we couldn't do anything right. It was 2010 or thereabouts.

I needed to come back here to clear my head. Some guy on V-talk just mentioned how Hancock was second only to Carlini--after she served up another block party!

In the Pan Am Games she was second to Carlini only in that she was the second one to start as setter....what for 9 matches to Carlini's 2? And as NCAA D1 POY she was second to Carlini....er, how?

The Wisconsin fans' overenthusiasm and the Cult of Carlini I find so annoying. On the other hand, their only real sin is enthusiasm, and now that I think about it, I don't think there is anything in the ten commandments or the catechism about enthusiasm being a sin. They're just darned excited about their volleyball team. If the Wisconsin post-season volleytalk thread reaches 250 pages by Christmas, there really is no harm in that. If it helps those poor people survive the long cold winter, we should be understanding... I think Wiscy misses Taylor Morey a lot. Carlini had great liberos (before Morey, Hickey) and got good passes and that was a lot of her success. This year they're struggling at times with tough serving teams. I don't know that it's so much Carlini setting into blocks, it's that the serving is limiting her options.

This has been an issue that I try to stay away from. Look at team hitting percentages during their collegiate careers. Micha's was better, "but only because she had better hitters." Same excuse when it comes to national championships. It's an argument that cannot be won. Consolation? I don't think Wisconsin will finish the season with a National Championship, or NPOY.

Nevertheless, saying she's setting a block party feels better.

“I’m mad,” Carlini said. “I’ve only been swept three or four times in my career before this, and now it’s two times in two weeks. It’s unacceptable. It can’t happen again.” Per Omaha.comWisconsin lost 4 times 3-0 to Micha's teams and one more to Michigan but who is counting! I only post this on here.

MTC copied my post and posted on VT, common man, you can do better than that. You're still the coolest bean on this forum! As a general rule, I try and give accreditation (thanks to Nyline for expanding my vocabulary) to the original poster when cross-posting information between the two forums. Also, I would not cross-post info to VT (and vice-versa) if the original poster didn't wish it posted elsewhere (I'm referring to Coolbean's statement, "I only post this on here.").

As much as it pains me to make this statement, at this point I think Nebraska is in a class of their own (regarding repeating as champs).
