So...it's looking very likely that this season will result in the most losses in a season in a long time, and NOT hosting in the opening rounds, which I think has only happened once (although should have twice...2001 they hosted when they shouldn't have due to 9/11)? Yep!

This loss is painful, as I have said all year long, we need a setter and right side....at least the football team is winning. Good point! Where's PSUMAUI? What's the outlook for wrestling? Is fencing worth following?

I really dislike early morning games.

Yep! I stand a little corrected...looks like the last time they didn't host was in 1989, but also from 1984 to 1988, and in 1982, so a lot in those early years. I guess the good news is that they can't go to another BIG team for the first two rounds. Given the other losses by top-tier teams this past week, they really had a chance to better their position. What a disappointment.

I don't think that ban was for earned tournament hosting, but for pre-determined championship type stuff.

Given the results of this year and some of last maybe we should not be overly confident that they all return? I heard that Russ blames himself for the losses thinking he did not tell them enough. I think that the players need to look at themselves and decide if they are going to work together or not. I find it hard to believe how many points we lose on opponent's tips when that player who tips must almost always give a clue that she is tipping.

When you come right down to it, what good does it do? We can all look at last night's game and see errors. It does seem that the team has been victimized by tips all season. I don't know how it gets better. Players who are responsible for the lapses are there the next game. The cupboard seems to be bare. I guess the only thing we can do is accommodate ourselves to disappointment. I'm hoping for success, but maybe I need to start watching the game for little victories--such as "Gee, player A had a few good digs in Set 2."

Honestly, I think I'm almost over Penn State women's volleyball. I've been a loyal fan of many losing teams at all levels. The difference is how this team loses. It is astonishing that a team so ostensibly talented can simply collapse at any moment on the court. Talented teams with winning attitudes do not give up the leads they have given up. They never seem to learn from mistakes. Many times, they look like they don't want to be on the court.
They don't need to have the talent of Harmotto, Hodge, Fawcett, D'Ericco and Hancock to win, but they need that attitude. This group of players, particularly the juniors doesn't have it and never will.
