I am a little disappointed that Penn State doesn't have any aces, unless I missed it. I really miss Micha. Detering has one ace. You're not alone in missing Micha. And Megan. And Megan. And Christa. And Roberta. And . . . . . .

Another good observation by the announcer-WVU middle covering PSUs middle attack leaving the pin hitters lots of room.

25-5 in the third set? That's pretty impressive.
Hope PSUMAUI can do the voodoo that he do so well

2 service aces. WVU fell apart in set 3. No mercy as coach did not put in the back ups

Another good observation by the announcer-WVU middle covering PSUs middle attack leaving the pin hitters lots of room. I agree. I thought his commentary was first-rate throughout the night. Which is why I wish he hadn't ended by saying that this tournament had "subjected the Mountaineer fans to big-time college volleyball." You get subjected to torture. I think they were exposed to big-time college volleyball. (I know. Petty. I can't help myself. I'm an editor.)

Too early to get too excited. None of the competition was any good. The team did play well and looked like a bunch of seniors who know their business. I am encouraged that unlike last year they had zero trouble with weaker foes.

Well, we now can see the only change from last year is Bryanna playing at the same time as Abby for the immediate future. We will see if Kat Cather can make a difference when she recovers. I love seeing the team snap back when WVU made some mini-runs. I actually think we may have over-practiced too much last year. Does anyone have a theory why we didn't play subs in the 3rd set with double digit leads? It doesn't make sense to me. I am not a fan of running up a score for a lop-sided win. It seems ego driven to me. The backup players practice hard and the coaches won't even share a crumb with them.

Coach needs to make sure this lineup gels. Since they're playing not even 110 points, I'd not claim it's ego. I'd claim this is a shake-down cruise to make sure they're fit for Stan.

Clearly Coach Rose, the all-time leader in NCAA D1 wins for women's college volleyball, has an ego problem that makes him run up the score against his very, very good friend, Reed Sunahara, whom he respects greatly. Yep, clearly it's an ego-driven decision.

If Coach Rose felt his starting players needed the reps, he did what he felt was necessary. And to put a different twist on it, maybe because he doesn't have the best possible recruits, he's trying to cultivate a killer instinct. Sort of the way wrestlers wrestle to get extra points for a superior decision.

That is pretty lame since it was second match of the day and many starters were tired. I think Coach had a personal reason to slam the WVU in the third set. Why would he select Claire Powers as a team captain and refused to play her in a 25-5 win? We know that the starters get nicked up during the season so why not let the backups develop some killer instinct also. Could too many coaches start to become a distraction for the players?

If the players are not ready for Stanford after the GRIND, they will never be ready. You might not realize how hard the team has been practicing prior to now.

The goal is get your best players some work in against the best team in the tourney. As coach you are hoping to get some resisted.....but if you go on a run you also want to allow them to develop that foot on the throat mentality....even though you have friends on the opposing team or you are friends with the other coach.
they game didnt even go 2 rotations and it got out of hand. Not much to gain in bringing your 5th string OH in at that point.
