Height needs skill to be truly effective: crafty might be a better word for it. We have seen many examples of shorter(6'1"" or 6'2") be very effective because they were challenged and learned how to avoid the advantage of height. But if you a biggie and grown up overpowering opposition you may not have learned.

Stanford is gigantic. We shall see how our "shorter" players do against much taller opponents.

LOL... I think I was already fast-forwarding to the National Championship match against Florida this year, in my OP. But, as a short guy myself, Stanford's height concerns me.

... in a word, No. Height does not win championships, or at least it doesn't guarantee match victories. (to answer my own question)
