 Just arrived. I hope to have a few updates during the match, but my watching/typing skills are minimal, at best, so that likely will have to wait until later (possibly even tomorrow morning, as I almost certainly will stick around and watch Illinois vs. Stanford). I will say this: the area around Champaign is Flaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. And from the air, everything looks very, very tidy. More on tidy: my taxi driver told me that the President of U of Illinois (or perhaps the Mayor of Champaign -- wasn't completely clear) keeps a very tidy town. None of the lamp posts have any posters on them -- people clean them off. And after home football games, 100 or so people are out at 5:30 a.m. the next morning picking up every can and bottle and cigarette butt. It's tidy. |
