Minnesota and Wisconsin play at Nebraska this weekend. Someone is going to have 2 losses. It would be best for us if Nebraska loses but I don't think that will happen. I don't see NE beating MN and I think the WI match with NE will be a toss-up only because they play at NE. They beat us because team either didn't follow game plan and/or his coaches didn't prepare team for NE as stated by Coach Rose. I still believe that Penn State is much better than NE. Let's see if the "real" NE shows up this weekend.

Now let me get this straight. MN just lost to Michigan State 3-0 and Wiscky lost to Michigan State 3-2 but you feel certain they both have a chance to go to Nebraska and win. On the pro side you might be right because Nebraska might have a letdown after sweeping us 3-0 and these will be two tough matches on consecutive nights. On the con side the Husker crowd always seems to spur their team to perform at a higher level and they have momentum right now.
I don't claim to be a coach but the reason we didn't follow the game plan against Nebraska is because they wouldn't let us. Our coaches certainly did not expect Holman to play and have a dominating night against us but we adjusted at halftime with no success. In matches where one team sweeps it is usually a situation where the player match-ups lead one team to have a distinct advantage and they take full advantage of it. We did the same thing with Simone Lee (to a lesser extent) but struggled with Nebraska serving more than vice-versa. If we play Nebraska again (not a sure thing) our players will certainly play better and hopefully the match would not be in Lincoln.
On a side note Michigan State has now become the X-factor since they have jelled and become a giant-killer this past week. In past years they have shown to be very beatable when playing on the road so we will get a quick read on that this weekend.
NE v MN match is 6pm on Friday and NE v WI match is 8pm on Saturday our times. Unfortunately we will be playing at home about the same time 7:30pm and 7pm.

Nebraska coming off a big win may let their guard down and MN will be playing hard after that big let-down loss. I'd pick Minny to win 9 out of 10 times. WI is tough to call just yet, because they have so many rookies, although Rettke (for being 6'8") has been impressive, I must say.

SIAP -- Looking at the B1G standings (Click Here for the B1G standings on DigNittanyVolleyball (you need to scroll a bit down the page -- column on the rightside) with links to each team and with AVCA rankings and link to AVCA poll), it's striking that 4 teams are in the top 10, and nine in the top 30. To belabor the point, the B1G is tough.

Hey, would being a fan and supporter be any fun if PSU swept each team 25-10? Actually, yes! It seems to me that 2008 was a roaring good time!

It was a good time x 37--plus a(nother) NC! But this is 2017. Back to 11-1 reality. Thanks for the great flashback, though.

Maybe better to put results-related posts on "Other matches to watch" thread?

After watching Nebraska sweep Minnesota I have a revised outlook. We actually were fully prepared to play the Huskers but they outplayed us. Minnesota has a very good team and the Huskers outplayed them. I don't see Wisconsin having much success either. Nebraska and Minnesota are loaded with elite freshmen which means our coaches have been slackers in not bringing in better players the last three years. I have to give these other teams a lot of credit for hard recruiting while we thought we were in already good shape. I haven't seen Wisconsin and Michigan State play this year but I'm sure they will give us a stern test, especially when we are on the road.
The season is still young and anything can still happen. Hopefully our serving and receiving will continue to improve.

We could see some distance put between Nebraska/PSU and the rest of the pack after the next 2 weeks. Nebraska could get dinged in the next 2-3 weeks, after that its smooth sailing for them.

....and then there were none. Wouldn't be surprised if Purdue gives Nebraska another tough night possibly loss this weekend.

Wisconsin is playing very aggressive with their serving and attacking offense. If teams don't serve them tough they will be in big trouble now. We are facing a big challenge with Michigan State. Go Lions.
