Astonishingly, the Slacker Staff showed up today at DigNittany World Headquarters and updated all of the Class of 2019 Signees and Verbals. Not earthshaking, but pretty good for those habitual slackers. |

If the player's status is verbal, does that mean they will be a walk-on?

If the player's status is verbal, does that mean they will be a walk-on? For the 2019s, that is my assumption, but I don't know for certain. For subsequent classes, no one has signed yet, so they are all verbals. Penn State doesn't announce who is or is not on scholarship, and my understanding is that it can change from year-to-year for some players -- i.e. a player may have agreed to two scholarship years out of four (which is different than partial scholarships -- there are no partial scholarships in D1 women's volleyball). It's complicated, which is why I don't track scholarships, just players. And at the end of the day, that's all that matters -- they are all players on the Penn State Women's Volleyball team. |

Verbal means there is no formal acceptance nor a for sure commitment.
Both sides have said at this time "YES", BUT "NO'S" CAN OCCUR

RE: Walk Ons:
Not invited but team having an open solicitation and some kid wants to give it a shot. Bayleigh MIGHT have been a walk on although she may have been more than that as she was on the Club team for a year and coach or staff may have seen her and invited her to tryout

I hope I'm not reading too far into this but PSU Volleyball posted a team picture in their Instagram story 2 hours ago and Jonni Parker was the only team member not in the photo, both Sophie Walls and Lauren Clark were there. Also she does not have PSU volleyball in her Instagram bio any longer which I thought was there before. Don't want to start any rumors just questioning why she would be the only one excluded from the photo!

Do we know at this late date if many of the new players attended school during the Spring semester? My understanding is that Lauren Clark is the only incoming freshman enrolled in time for Spring semester. Others may have more up-to-date or accurate information. |
