"Emily, who played OH in high school (setter for her club team) earned third-team All-Area honors from the Orlando Sentinel in 2018..."
Is this the thread where we can evaluate honestly or the thread where every recruit gets a trophy?
In any event, congrats to Oerther. A Penn State degree will be valuable for your career after college. You will make many friends at Happy Valley and enjoy the experience.

You (and any other poster) are free to evaluate however you wish -- as long as it's done respectfully (the standard I prefer is "Is it something you'd say while sitting across the table from the player, her parents, and the person whose respect you value more than any other?"). Personally, I'm not competent to evaluate whether a player will be great, good, or something less than that. I am always reminded of Karsta Lowe -- I know, she was unique -- but she also was a walk-on at UCLA who became an Olympian. www.dignittanyvolleyball.com/what-penn-state-might-be-getting-with-its-2018-senior-aces-71-allyson-cathey/

Should you not present your resume? I don’t think it was an attempt to say “starter” or “legend in the making”. Information is an attempt to frame the player and share knowledge of accomplishments. Not an attempt to predict future accolades. Cheers.

Consider if you will the choices Russ makes to bring a player into the system and how many times that individual does not provide the expected performance.. Then us infrequent observers making predictions on less info and less understanding.
Makes for copy only

Can I be honest rather than PC? Third team local prep honors usually doesn’t translate into playing time on a DI top ten team. I’m sure Emily understands this and knows the challenge ahead for playing time. Can some of you at least acknowledge playing time is a long shot based on the info available.
Russ is an expert at picking out potential and had the info he needed to make an offer.
Karsta is a good example of how a player can beat the odds. I recall Karsta playing for her Wave club team. I was sure at the time from watching she had scholarship offers. It was very surprising to find out later she didn’t get a scholarship offer and walked on to UCLA. The unforeseen can happen. Good luck to Emily.

Good luck to Emily. I think that's a respectfully delivered opinion. No problems with it from me. Based on the publicly available information, Emily certainly is a longer shot for playing time than, say, was Kaitlyn Hord last season. One other point is that the coaches don't choose the lineups based on publicly available information -- they choose them based on their evaluation of the players during pre-season practice, and practice/performance during the season. At this point, noone knows how that will turn out. We're speculating -- and there's nothing wrong with that. We'll find out who plays, and how much, once the season starts.

There's speculation on VolleyTalk that Iman Ndiaye decommited. She removed PSU volleyball from her Instagram and Twitter and removed her commitment picture from both as well. She does still have a picture on her instagram with the other commits from her class though.

She's an amazing player. Hopefully, she will change her mind if she hasn't decided to go somewhere else.

Someone on VT just wrote: "She reopened her recruitment. But she still may stay with PSU."
