I watched a youtube video of Gabrielle Nichols’ state semi-final match from last season. The opposing team included a top RS recruit going to Nebraska named Ryan Hunter. I think it was mentioned Gabrielle started playing a little later on compared to other players but it is clear she has been able to take in and improve a lot in a short amount of time. She was a go to player for her team and showed a lot of physicality in her game already. She runs the slide very well also. I can definitely see her making some big strides in improvement during her time at Penn State. I’m sure KSC will be looking for another middle (if Hopp is out of eligibility) but i believe Gabrielle could have a solid season as a true freshman if no other middles are added on the roster. I wonder if Burke may also be seeing more playing time next season. Do we know if this incoming class will be joining in the spring like last year’s?
