Just a thought, IMHO, not based on anything but gut reaction, could it be that Annie Cate and Macy played so well that she thought she might be riding the pine if she came here.

I watched Annie Cate and Macy outshine Sophie so I think you're probably right - she's much more likely to get court time at Kentucky with wing hitters Edmond and Cooper both gone. I think she's made the right short-term decision, but longer-term she's given up the chance to grow and be part of a potentially NCAA Championship team in 2021 (or maybe even 2020)

Fischer is ok but not great. Her height is only reason she was even being talked about. Her footwork is extremely slow

What are the senior ace rankings of Fitzpatrick and Fischer. One "all-star" match is not a comprehensive demonstration of a player's skills to make an evaluation. Some prep players are really good one match and can't do anything right the next match. www.prepvolleyball.com senior ace rankings are made by many coaches who are more familiar with the club players than we are.
While there are many exceptions in general a front row player outside the top 30 senior aces is usually not the player to help a team to a national championship. Sorry, I know some fans get upset by objectivity being expressed on this board.

Fischer was ranked #15; Fitzpatrick was ranked #28. That's effectively little-to-no difference in ranking. The much asked-about elan McCall was #77 in her year. But although I'm glad Fitzpatrick had a statistically impressive performance in a match like that, I agree with you that it really doesn't prove much -- the dreaded sss (small sample size, not Samantha Seliger Swenson). Fitzpatrick may turn out to be far better than Fischer, or she may not. I have no idea which will happen (and I suspect most viewers of this board are in the same boat). I hope for the former, and root for her either way.
Fwiw , I don't think many on this board get upset by objectivity. But sometimes statements that are presented as objective fact are subjective opinion. Which is fine, but it leads to disagreements. I don't think many, if any, will be upset by your statement, which strikes me as being pretty objective. Of course, that's my subjective opinion.

It may have only been one game, but it was a game that featured the best high school age players in the country. Annie Cate showed a cannon arm and excellent passing skills in the back court. I subjectively think we have a winner in Fitzpatrick.
