As an aside, the transfer to Penn State of middle blocker Tay Trammel (home: Lexington KY; high school: Henry Clay), replacing middle blocker Kaitlyn Hord (home: Lexington KY; high school: Henry Clay) underscores one of the fundamental laws of the universe: "Nature abhors a Henry Clay Vacuum."

Wooo!! Another amazing player added to the team, way to go KSC & staff. Can't help but be excited for the upcoming season. Makes me wonder will we see the addition of a few more players via the portal? Maybe on the DS side? I'm thinking theres still more than a few scholarships left. I like our current back court people. I still think we need outside hitters and a backup setter.
The transfer portal may provide a band aid, but the real test remains recruiting success going forward.

They could still use another defensive specialist from a depth standpoint. Penn State had seven defensive specialists, including the libero, the last two seasons and nine on its roster in 2019. This year’s team currently has five.

I was quietly hopin' prayin' that Tay would come our way. But thought it wasn't a possibility. Of all the other B1G players, she was one of my favs the last couple seasons. Welcome Tay!!

You certainly are right that recruiting is a key to success moving forward, but with the freedom of movement for players, the Transfer Portal will continue to have a huge impact on D1 women's college volleyball. This season was perhaps an outlier because of the extra Covid year, but I don't think that was all of it. We'll see. At least for now, I'm happy that KSC has been able to attract two solid (maybe even very good) players. And I suspect PSU will get one or two more. (No inside info here -- just speculatin') |

Any chance PSU will get Katie Hurta? She was going to Indiana, Gwitt recruited her, but she recently took iuvb out of her Instagram bio. She was Illinois Gatorade player of the year this year. Could help fill a backup, or maybe take the reigns in the setting position that some are concerned about.

Probably recruit or incoming transfer news pending, but could it otherwise be finalizing hire of DoVO? All signs appear to be pointing to an incoming transfer - Zoe Weatherington. Nothing is confirmed, but people have noted in various forums that she recently (within the last 12 hours) started following PSU WVB and the entire staff, and liked KSC's recent "#WeAre" post in IG. I've been hoping Zoe would come to PSU since it was reported that she's in the Portal, so I hope Zoe to PSU is true. She would be an awesome addition! (Though I would be happy with any addition.) As for DoVO - Per PSU HR, the position is still open, though perhaps the job listing just hasn't been pulled down yet. |

I am totally speculating here, but I don't think KSC would give the seven-stars tweet for finalizing the hire of the DoVO. Maybe for the actual hire, but I don't think prior to that. But, as I said, I really don't have any idea. |

Perhaps it was in reference to Trammell or maybe the player committed to Penn State but hasn’t posted about it yet on social media.
