“I am so excited and beyond thankful to announce that I have committed to play college volleyball at Penn State,” Hurta said. “Thank you to all of my family, friends, teammates, and coaches that have supported and helped me along the way.”

Here's a link to a March 1, 2021 article by John Tawa, founder of the really-suffering-since-Tawa-sold-it PrepVolleyball.com, and current writer for Volleyball Magazine, which gives really nice props to new Penn State commit Katie Hurta: volleyballmag.com/tawas-daily-dots-030121/Here's the key excerpt (but the entire article is interesting, even though only this part relates to Katie Hurta): If I understand that correctly, in March 2021 John Tawa listed Katie Hurta as the #15 player he would pick out of any Class of 2021 or younger (e.g. 2021, 2022 or 2023) based on how good he thinks they'll be as freshmen. Tawa isn't precient (or a perfect prognosticator) -- as I'm certain he would acknowledge. But in his eyes (in March of 2021), Penn State just got itself a pretty darn good player! (Also, I may have misunderstood the article -- there may have been actual college coaches doing the picking (rather than Tawa). When I'm feeling a little less slothful, I'll check that out).

According to VT (we all know how great of a source that can be) Adanna Rollins is in the transfer portal. Her Instagram would lead me to believe it since a couple programs and recruiting coordinators have followed her recently.

There were statements that "she is in the portal." The college volleyball transfer Twitter account that went inactive for a bit and seems to be back up and running does not have anything from her as of just now. And, overnight they finally caught up with the Taylor Trammell news. So it sounds like folks may be dipping toes through the portal but have not actually entered. Gosh, I'd be sad if this were true.

I agree. I hope she stays in the Blue and White.

If true, she could be dipping her toe in the water to see if better options are out there (a lot of PSU football players have done that the last few years and ended up staying) Again if true, she must be seeking something that Minnesota and (maybe) Penn State couldn't offer...

Nice article -- started at age 9 and it looks like she might be #9 at Penn State (just guessing, based on the photo). Hmmmm, wasn't there another #9 Setter/Right Side at Penn State? Let me think. I'm sure there was. Hmmmm.

It looks like the team washed out of the tourney yesterday w/a match record of 4/3. That's too bad for Izzy. Without knowing the level of talent on the team, it's hard to know whether that's a good result for an overperforming team, or a disappointing result for an underperforming team. Colorado Juniors 16 greatly improved last weekend in SLC. Tawa did a nice piece on her for Volleyballmag.com saying CJ16 went 10-0 and Starck was the big star. This will get them to the Nationals.

Excellent! Thanks for the info. Here's a link to the full article: volleyballmag.com/club-volleyball-dream-team-031622/Two members of his "Dream Team" for the weekend (I guess it's a regular piece, but I don't read him regularly) will be of interest to PSU fans:
