When can the transfers and freshman show up on campus and start training? Edit: I was mistaken. The correct answer is: All ten of the current players, plus all five of the "New Penn Staters" will be on campus by early-to mid June. The four freshman players will be on campus by the end of July. Only scholarship players will have some or all of their expenses covered -- but the period for coverage will differ depending on when they are enrolling (and that differs depending on their academic program). As to training, it's correct that they can train together, but unlike football, for example, the coaches do not have "Summer Access" to the student athletes prior to the start of pre-season practice, which will start in early August. However, the team trainer (and/or strength coach -- not sure which one, or if it's both) can interact with the players prior to the start of preseason practice. Sorry for the confusion.

When can the transfers and freshman show up on campus and start training? All nineteen players will be on Campus by the second week in June. They can train together, but without any coaches present. Pre-season practice will start in early August. Wow, everyone is going to show up voluntarily. That's a good sign for the 2023 season. I don't know the rules about summer training. Are meals and housing covered by scholarship for the scholarship players? I assume walk-ons have to pay for everything out of pocket which is impressive as to their commitment to the team. I also assume the players don't have to take classes if they don't want to.

Thanks for the article Ethan. Really like the idea of Izzy enrolling early so she gets more time to work with the team.

I just confirmed with Ava Falduto that she’s also planning to enroll early with Starck in January. Story to follow on this big news for Penn State’s 2024 recruiting class.
