Also, not to beat a dead horse. PrepVolleyball article on Iman’s decision to leave was primarily weather related. Yeesh Maybe it was a lack of understanding on the author's part of the difference between "weather" and "whether": "Iman is said to have been conflicted on weather she should honor her commitment to Penn State, or weather she should change to another school. It appears to have been a weather-related decision." (For the overly trusting, the author did not really write those sentences, but with what passes for journalism in today's world, they could have.) p.s. this is my inner "Get off my lawn" talking to noone in particular. Whether it’s weather-related or not, sounds like a flimsy excuse to me. 😛

Yeah, was it after she committed to Penn State she learned it is warmer in SoCal during the winter. Don't commit unless you have made up your mind. It's not fair to other potential recruits. But then again, I have no idea what the real reasons were.

I have no understanding of the recruiting process especially the written and unwritten rules. Is it improper for a school to contact a youngster who has orally committed somewhere else?
My impression is that some of the top players "commit" when they are quite young-at a time when many important life events have yet to happen. For example, how well the student might do in their high school class work, or maybe start dating and want to go to school near to someone who has become important to her. When I was a lad (so very many years ago!) I had no idea what University I wanted to attend until I was a Senior in high school, and even then I had trouble choosing. Maybe a player decides that Penn State does not "specialize" in a major that she wants to pursue, or thinks that the dorm rooms are ugly or whatever.
I expect that the weather excuse is just an easy way to justify what must be a very difficult decision for a young person. Frankly, I am a bit surprised that more kids don't change their minds before the written commitment deadline.

She's a talented young player that changed her mind for whatever reason. We will figure out how to fill that spot.

Hey it is what it is, She does not like our balmy weather so be it. Concentrate on the players who come here not those that don't for whatever reason.

Hey! All ya recruits: I am not from PA, but I've traveled (see username) a lot going to and from PSU. Beautiful state. Movingly beautiful. Love the people, too. And nothing like a foot of snow to bond you with your friends. Seriously. You have your whole life to live elsewhere. You only have one chance to play at/attend PSU.

One step on campus and I was sold. Too bad I can't play volleyball.

No need to get snippy, this thread is simply to update you to new players added to roster. We need to be supportive of all the ladies b/c they do read this site and are willing to compete 100% (many without a scholarship). So lets try to be as positive as we can. Thanks.

Wonder if the staff is recruiting Sophie Fischer from South Carolina - top 20 , 6-5 oh/mb who is a great prospect and just what penn state needs And there should be a scholarship available
