Well that was easier. US wins their pool beating Puerto Rico in 4 sets. Micha had no aces and 6 service errors, 1 kill on 7 attempts with 1 error, and 1 block. The team hit .316 and held PR to .120.
By winning their pool, they skip Quarter Finals and next play in the semis on Saturday.

I was hoping Hancock will be chosen for the VNL finals or PanAm Games instead of the PanAm Cup. Seems like a downgrade to me. I can read it that way or that they want to put the pedal to the metal for the PA Cup. And she's one of the most experienced on the team. Just imagining here that Karch wants Plummer...first time I've seen her at Intl Senior Level tho I could be wrong...to get a really good shakedown cruise under her belt. BTW... 2 Natl POYs playing together. Not often...

Karsta Lowe has been the high point scorer, with Kingdon Rishel and Kadi Rolfsen (spelling?) getting the floor time. I am sure getting Plummer on the road with a National Team group is a big deal though.

USA crushed Columbia in the semis yesterday. Team coach quoted as saying Micha "is doing a fabulous job running our offense." US hit .376, and Plummer got in briefly. Finals against Dominican Republic, which is using its VNL team, is today.

Micha Hancock and the U.S. squad took home the gold medal after sweeping the Dominican Republic Sunday.

I understand the Dominican Republic roster USA defeated in the final match was the same roster that kicked the USA "A" team's butt in the VNL.

So now we wait to see if Micha is selected for the FIVB Olympic Qualification tournament running August 2-4 in Louisiana (assuming that state has not sunk into the ocean by then). Although the competition will not be very strong (Kazakstan, Bulgaria and Argentina), the chance to punch a ticket for the Olympics likely will inspire the coaching staff to put the full A team (barring injury) into the fray.

Micha was not selected for the Olympic Qualifying starting on Friday. Setters are Carlini and Poulter.
Megan Courtney and Haleigh Washington were selected to the 14 player roster. Except for Kim Hill, the roster looks an awful lot like the team that won the VNL finals.

Except for Kim Hill, the roster looks an awful lot like the team that won the VNL finals. I wonder how much gas Kim Hill has left in the tank. I have no idea. Maybe this mini tournament will reveal how she is doing. Apparently a couple of veterans (eg: Carly Loyd) are no longer in the National Team gym. Other older players are still on the list and playing high level club ball. So we will see who can hang in for a chance at the Olympics and who will have to make way for some of the younger players who have been showing pretty well this Summer.

All three matches are available on tv, either Olympic Channel, MSNBCSN and NBC (Sunday v. Argentina live). I expect Megan and Haleigh will get significant floor time.
