Was looking at the Minn stats. Samedy hit .179, Hart .270, Rollins .150, Regman .182. Minn was up 24-20 in the 2nd set and lost 26-24. They were down in the 3rd 24-17 and lost 25-21. First year w/o SSS. I'm guessing that the new setter wasn't meshing too well with the hitters. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out . Just noticed something else. No aces for Minn. Not one. And 8 service errors. Very unlike Minn. Especially when they're playing PSU

OK, so let's say, as a genius coach, you figure out that your setter isn't meshing with the hitters. What do you do? It's likely the middle of a game? I'm still shaking my head over this result.

Not sure the coach can do anything. Most teams don't have a reserve setter who is good enough to jump in and do as good a job.. Plus, the 1st string setter is probably getting most of the time in practice with the first string because she doesn't have that much time with them either. Like you, I'm shaking my head.

Unless this was an anomaly, could be a long season for Minn. Are we only playing them once?

Minnesota lost to Florida State in 3 (17, 24, 21)! Florida State was #31 (others receiving votes) in the pre-season coach's top 25. Thanks, nittanycuse. Welcome to the site. So given your screen name, is your favorite color Blorange? I was in Syracuse for 20 years but never drank the kool-aid. I moved to the warmer climates of Virginia this spring...

Thank goodness we don't play the Gophers next weekend. They will be in a very bad humor. Not that Stanford or Oregon are going to be blowing us kisses. Minnesota's next 4 matches are Texas (at Texas), Florida (home), Oregon (University Park) and Stanford (University Park)... They have a great opportunity to show they can right the ship but also a chance of losing 5 in a row.

Unless this was an anomaly, could be a long season for Minn. Are we only playing them once? No, it's called the B1G schedule. When Maryland and Rutgers joined the conference, schedules became "asymmetrical." The conference wanted to limit the season to 20 games. The upside is that the change has fostered whining about who has the easier/more difficult schedule.
