Emily Oerther makes her first appearance for Penn State. And gets a block! Is she a leftie? I finally got the stream flowing. What I saw looked good. We'll see what the Shockers have to offer. What a day at PSU, Vandals and Shockers. Thanks for keeping the home fires burning, Nyline. |

That's Blossom, not Bailey, right? Just want to make sure we are talking about the right one. I realize that the names are spelled differently, but you never know.

It was nice to see the middles getting a lot of sets. I was impressed by the connection Gabby had with the middles. She seems to have a better connection now than Bryanna did last year. Course, that depends on the passing. It looks like Jonni and Alysson will be the two outside hitters receiving serve. Neither were that impressive in the first two matches. But, I think that Jonni is a good enough athlete that she will turn into a good receiver. Not sure about Alysson. It was nice to see the relatively quick sets from Gabby. That will really help the middles be more efficient. I think the two things that worry me most are the passing and the outside hitting. Not sure that Allyson and Tori will be able to get it done against a good blocking/defensive team. Was impressed by Lauren Clark, what little there was to see  . She had a free ball and put a roll shot right in the corner. Really nice shot. It will be fun to see how this team develops. Again, like others have said, not expecting this team to go too far in the NCAA tourney. |
