Cathey hitting 0.00. Gorrell .091. Really tough to get balls down

So now we see what we need to fix. Excellent effort. Hope it carries into tomorrow.

No shame in this loss. If they take the right take-aways from this match, they will have a successul season. I'm optimistic--more than I was before the game.

This year will be more fun than I thought. Serve receive will get a lot better with Parker and Cathey getting more experience. PSU just has less leeway cuz Stanford is gonna outhit us. Impressed with Cathey and Gorrell blocking. Our middles were taken somewhat out of the game because our passing wasn't so swift after the first set. Impressed with how Parker was able to get a lot of kills despite the Stanford blocking. Gonna be fun to watch the team improve. Who knows how good they'll be at the end of season. Blossom is such a good setter. I haven't seen this good a connection with the middles since I started watching PSU (2010).

We could really use a go to OH. If we had that piece, we could really be dangerous. Without this, there is too much pressure on our serve receipt. Tori really struggled with out of system swings and Cathey is making the youthful mistakes. Great effort by the team but this match does highlight the difference between a good team and a great team.

Nebraska will be a tough team to play. I watched part of the match against Creighton and was very impressed with Nebraska's defense. I think PSU will find them a tough match.

When you are going up against a team that has two 6-6 hitters like Plummer and Fitz, everyone is going to have some issues. PSU has two great MBs. They just need to make some adjustments to the OH play and they'll be right there with all the top teams. Great effort tonight. HORD showed the world how great she is!

So true. Need a big hammer to get a good attack when out of system. Plummer is just unfair. How many times did she get a kill when Stanford was totally out of system. Just unreal. And Kendall Kipp, their 6'5" freshman looks like Plummer II.

I think this team is better than last years, by a good margin.
First, we were able to get to 20 every single set and go toe-to-toe; Stanford did not go on any long runs in the 3rd and 4th.
Second, the DS's were the unsung heroes in this match for me; they dug a lot of hard hit balls and passed well. Stanford is a very good serving team.
Third, if we can play this good with such a young team, this early in the season, I'm very hopeful for the rest of the season.
Lastly, I'm so happy with how Blossom has blossomed. Her defense was fantastic and she set a nice game.
I think that PSU was getting tired by the end of the 4th, but this team definitely has the "grind" and "grit" mentality.

I forgot to mention the DS's. They were getting up a lot of balls. Especially in the 4th. It might have been that the blocking was better so they were able to get to more balls. Some of the Stanford attacks were coming so fast. Impressed with Blossom mixing things up. She was handicapped in the last few sets as the serve receive wasn't doing so good. Yet she's one of those setters that can frequently get a good set out of a lousy pass. Haven't seen that in a while.
