PSU 16-11. I'm happy siding out the rest of the way.

Massive parity has broken out in women's college volleyball. Talent is spread out across so many teams. MSU has some good outside hitters.

US high schools and club teams are producing lots of great volleyballers. As the sport continues to grow, we may eventually see the number of teams with National Championships begin to grow.

Spoiler alert:. At the post-match press conference Coach Rose said that Jonni played well, Jenna played good defense, and other than that nobody played well. I was a bit surprised because I thought Serena and Tori played pretty well.

Catheys errors are just not acceptable at this level. She eventually figured it out. Cathey has repeatedly come up big at the end of sets. I am impressed with her apparent refusal to dwell on errors, and keep helping the team.

We all know how young PSU players are, but they played so much better against most talented senior heavy laden Stanford. MSU is similarly young.

Except for the stunning number of service errors, this kind of match was fairly predictable. Coming in MSU was holding opponents to very low hitting percentage and had some of the best block stats in the country. Jonni carried the offence until our block finally dialed in. It seems like the middles are shading or leaning to their right and for most of the match could not close with our pin blocker on the left. Opponents have been using slides and Opp attacks with great success. That may be strategic (eg: slow down Plummer) or difficulty reading the setter. But in set three they were much better.
