Curious to know RR's thinking this: Was the change to get greater offense or to obtain more blocking? Seems that the two outsides on the left side for Illinois had career kills last night. Were our blockers late or poor hand positions or are those two just so clever they can hit around anything?

And Club Coach, in his Q&A prior to yesterday's match, said this:

Lee hit .106 yesterday. early on she combined for some great Washington-Lee blocks but her contributions seemed to diminish as the match wore on.
also, as with last week, he played 6 count 'em 6 back row only players. I think 4 was the usual last year.

hambly said afterward "We gave them eight or nine points in those [first two] sets. It was like we were handicapping ourselves." ignoring the fact that psu gave illinois 11 gifts on service errors alone. yes they gave us 3 back but that's still works out to 8 points we gave them.

I noticed that too. I thought he could have phrased it better, but I don't think he intended to dis Penn State.

As to tone-deafness...Good point!! there were other times when Tortorello was essentially coaching IL on how to get back in the match, without my noticing any reciprocating. Is this the price to pay for being at the top? (Also, i would have thought Tortorello's sister, who's all over the all-time records in the media guide, would have given her a reason to be more even handed towards PSU.) I did like their coverage of the totally blown touch against Courtney...they only had to show the replay once, no need to study it...and their frank criticism of the reffing.
