Jonni is not a typical college OH. I believe we recently were told that she takes a substantial percentage of her swings from the back row. Gabby's willingness to set back row right as often as she does demonstrates the level of confidence. Traveler's comments about OH challenges are very well taken as general propositions. Each team has player who will get most of the slow, out of system swings. By their nature, those types of swings are much more difficult to score. Often the best choice is to "tool the block." I thought that Tori had her best match on the left taking those kinds of swings. She did not always score, but she did keep a number of plays alive by hitting into the block in a manner that gave the team another try at it. That is a difficult skill to master. Good point about the back row. Jonni swings a lot from there. Agreed about Tori also. I was noticing that she seemed to be hitting a lot better, tooling the block and getting the ball in play if not down. She had 14 kills on 37 attempts which might be a high for her in both attempts and kills. She played a really good game. She's also gets excited and does a good job keeping the energy up. May have been her best match at PSU. Such a good example for a teammate. I think very highly of her. (That and $5 will get you a latte )
