I'd love to see Purdue take them out in the 2nd round. What a blow that would be. The NCAA Selection Committee would be hard pressed to give them a top seed in future years. Now if Texas played more Big10 and Pac12 teams away in the non-conference portion of the season, I'd justify their seeding. I don't think the selection committee would, or should, base seeds on one or even two previous tournament performances. They did win it all only three years ago, after all. True, but my point is that they get good seeding every year, it seems, and perhaps an easier road to the Final Four than most Pac12 or Big10 teams, because they play in a smaller conference which gives them a better RPI (it's a math thing, don't totally understand it myself). Maybe that's why then won it 3 years ago, not to mention Micha's injury in the semis against Oregon that year (2012), which probably cost PSU a chance to play against Texas in the Final. Would have been a good one to see. Oregon got swept by Texas in the NC Final that year.

For anyone interested. There is a VB Bracket Challenge going on at (click on the link): Bracket-ChallengeIt's hosted by Camkerr of VT and he writes, "Each year for the past 5 years I've hosted an NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship bracket challenge. Last year, ColoradoKid won the challenge with a score of 155 and 54/63 correct picks.

Who will cover the first two games? Will they be on BTNplus? As of now, BTN shows 'no games scheduled'...just a big blank. i don't think that stops PSU from putting up its own TV...other schools have done that. I'd go to the PSU schedule, click on the Howard match and see if they add anything below Gametracker as the week goes on. Lots of games across the nation i'd love to see, as well. Anything involving Creighton...probably the smallest school to be seeded...

Alright, everyone together (concentrate): the only surprises for Penn State will be Penn State defeating higher-seeded teams!

You can't be serious! Howard lost 1-3 to Maryland. Whitney and Washingon can hit over their block any time they want to. Coach Rose is famous for not underestimating any opponent. In the magical thinking department, we shouldn't either. ☺ Are you suggesting that we should lower our expectations. How did that work for the football team?

How did that work for the football team? I think what he means is that Coach Rose is adamant about preparing for every opponent with equal energy. And we should too, even though we aren't playing. Respect the game.

The board of people submitting is already pretty big. Anyway, I cannot agree more with you about the number of unknowns. I will be doing some research though and approach this from a statistics viewpoint, instead of letting my emotions get the better of me, like I did last year.

I came in 2nd last year on Volleytalk's PTW bracket. My secret? I picked BYU to get to the finals. My failing? I didn't think Texas would make it to the semis.
