I love PSU, but I wouldn't buy tickets for Omaha.

I don't understand why they have so many DS-types who can't do the job. Maybe they have them to defray the cost of scholarships?
It will be interesting to see how this team finishes the regular season. It will be a chance for them to show some character.

RR is really disappointed with the lack of consistent play. I can't say that I blame him!! And players not listening to him at this point in the season?? So those youngsters already know more than the greatest coach the game has ever seen??

8M - I did not say that the 2014 class is bad. I said that perhaps they are not the best class of all time. You are spot on to point out the dramatic decline in serve receive/passing this season. Minn's freshman setter is certainly better at this time than PSU's RS freshman setter, that may change in the future. I comment again that PSU has a collection of highly talented individuals who are not a high performing team. That is a major coaching challenge for next year.

here's what i don't understand. if rose really means that the players aren't listening to him ...... then why are they playing? why isn't he benching the ones who are not listening, regardless of losses it may cause? i find it hard to believe a coach of his stature would put up with "players not listening".

As much as I'm critical of John Cook, and I am, I've seen him bench his starters when they're not performing. I don't want to see Coach Rose become something he's not, but how can we not be disturbed when he says (some of?) his players are ignoring him.

idseer2, here is the comment I picked up off of cross5's post: "Rose said he does not think the Lions played very hard, and he noticed that his advice does not have much impact on the players at this point in the season. The coach said that the Lions’ No. 1 ranking is due to people voting on past performances rather than the current efforts of the team." I guess that might mean they are not taking his advice very seriously. I don't care who they are, they should be sitting if that's their attitude.

I think there's a lot more to what he actually said. I think he does not believe this group has the do or die mentality that some of the previous teams had. Beside Courtney, others are not instinctively savvy. They don't adjust well. If you have to stretch out fully to receive the serves, then you should position yourself a half step up the court and vise versa. if your serves are long most of the time, then you have to hit it with a little less force and so on. I am sure they know. What I question is they do not make the adjustment during the game when the same mistakes are being made. Thus, even though they are very talented group, coach Rose maybe frustrated with their lack of so called 'volleyball IQ".

And now we know how Stanford fans felt in September. Except their team played better than PSU did tonight. PSU's weaknesses displayed for all to see. Defeated by a clearly superior team, not a team with better talent, but a better team.

PSU was not sharp in any facet of the game. As I said Minnesota has been playing very good volleyball with energy.
Hear me folks. Loud and clear. PSU will be the better team in 3 weeks.

For a kid who hasn't plated much the past 2 weeks nor as libero all year except for 1 set eons ago, Kendall did a solid job. It may be something to build off of.

It'll be interesting to see who starts at Libero the next match. I think this team might play much different with a solid libero. Sometimes one player can change a team (make is stronger or weaker), just like one weak link in a chain, makes the whole chain weak. Gotta see the video to get a better idea, was only listening to audio and reading everyone's posts. OR MAYBE, Minnesota is a better team than I thought.
