WISC just beat MINN 3-1 in Mn f25-22, 23-25, 30-28 & 29-27 or their second win against MINN this season. Good match. Wisc was up 23-15 in the 4th and MINN came back to tie it at 24. Wisc had 2 match points at 24-22 which MINN saved.
Wisc hit .313 to .284 for Minn. Aces, blocks, serve receive errors similar. BUT, Wisc had 195 total attacks to 169 for Mn and consequently had 82 kills to 64 kills for Mn. Wisc had 13 service errors to 4 service errors for Mn. Match went almost 3 hours.

Unfortunately, our coach Rose may have been correct in his preseason pick of Wisconsin winning the B1G, aggravates me to no end.

Inexplicably, I am far less offended by the existence of WI now than 3 years ago. Used to be you said WI and I saw red. Lol. Find it hard to hold anything against Rettke and I found a Haggerty to like, finally.
I watched MN play OSU last weekend and there's something a bit off for them this year. OSU was really competing and it wasn't as close at the 3-0 score indicates. Can't say what but I guess it goes back to the Setter. Samady and Hart seem less scary than last year, although they're clearly quite good still.

Samady and Hart seem less scary than last year, although they're clearly quite good still. The announcer mentioned that this was the 4th match in a row where Samedy had less than 10 kills. Also, I believe that their 1st string setter has been out for a while, (Kylie Miller). And Minn has been running a 6-2 for a bit without Miller. I think the 6-2 has been since Kylie Miller went out. PSU has only had two setters who could start (2017) once that I remember, (not counting last year; Gabby did come in last year when needed), much less 3. So Minn has had quite a bit of change at the setter position, especially, since the three setters are replacing SSS. I just realized, Samedy had 5, count them, 5 kills last nite. Go figure. Miyabi, a transfer I believe, was a goto hitter last nite. She tied with Hart with 12 kills.

Stanford beat USC 3-1. Plummer's 2nd match back. 5286 to watch match which seems unreal to me. WHen I see Stanford at home, it seems there is usually only 1500-1800 in attendance.

Yes...noticed that! Early season was even worse. If their band can't help bring them out...and that tree...and a plumber...I mean Plummer...what can?

Oregon loses two more matches this weekend. Now 3-13 in conference. I don't know what happened to them. They have one injured player who would have probably started. Other than that, it is hard to explain.

Interested in other things than watching sports. I was at the regionals at Stanford last December, and was struck by the scarcity of people who knew where Maples Pavilion was. Plus, the roads were under construction seemingly everywhere, making it difficult to get there even if you knew where "there" was. But everyone was very friendly, and paused to talk with me -- a welcome respite from preparing to earn billions?

I live down the street for Stanford and have most my life except a 6 year gap in Southern California and I can say people in California in general just are not into volleyball as much as a lot of other states.

And yet, in 2007, Karch had no idea who the players were on the PSU side of the net...but he could tell you everything about Foluke's goggles. Lol. VB people, Karch included, seemed to think VB ended somewhere west of the Mississippi. Now, if I have my geography right, we've got 4 teams East of the Mississippi in the top 10. And I'm assuming the 2 from PA may be a first this year.

And in 2008 you could hear him, almost with glee, suppose a Nebraska comeback, relating a story about Cook, who said after last weekends come back from 0-2 down to Washington, everybody loves Nebraska volleyball, and wouldn't it be nice to see another 0-2 deficit erased in the semifinals after Stanford did the same thing to Texas. Well Karch glad to see both you and Cook were wrong on both counts.
