No. 8 Women's Volleyball Set for Road Trip to Illinois Friday, Northwestern Sunday
No. 8 Penn State (19-4, 12-2 B1G) at No. 25 Illinois (12-11, 7-7 B1G)
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Penn State women's volleyball team is set for two matches in Illinois this weekend, starting with a top-25 matchup in Champaign against No. 25 Illinois on Friday at 8 p.m. (ET). The Lions then head to Evanston to take on Northwestern on Sunday at 2 p.m. (ET). Both matches will stream on BTN Plus.
Penn State is 19-4 overall and 12-2 in the Big Ten after beating Indiana and then No. 15 Purdue at Rec Hall last week. The Lions swept the Hoosiers before taking down the Boilermakers in four sets. It was the team's third win over a nationally-ranked team this season.
The Lions picked up two weekly awards from the Big Ten following the two wins. Sophomore Gabby Blossom was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week for the third time in four weeks, while senior Kendall White was selected as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. White had a season-high 29 digs against Purdue.
Illinois is 12-11 overall and 7-7 in the conference after falling to Michigan in four sets in its most recent match. The Illini are coming off a season in which they advanced to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament.
Penn State is 46-11 in the all-time series with Illinois, including a come-from-behind 3-2 victory at Rec Hall earlier this season. The Lions are 19-8 against the Illini in Champaign, including a five-set loss last season.
