Now if we can only dominate Minny, Wisc, and Nebraska like that...ah the good old days.

That had to be the most efficient match we've had all season.
Four players hit .500 or higher. Only one player hit a lowely .462 LOL!

Parker with 13 kills, Gorrell with 11, Grey and Hord with 10 and Cather with 8. Cathey ended up hitting 8-2-13 for .462 which was nice to see. Blocking 6-2 PSU. Parker is PSU's version of Plummer. Jonni's the goto person when we need a kill, plus as NittanyLions was saying, she can put it down from almost anywhere. RR being pretty creative as to where the various players attack from.
White only had 13 digs, which is actually pretty good considering a lot of errors by NW.

Do that against a quality team and I’ll get excited

This team doesn't seem to take anybody for granted. They may not do well against a poor team sometimes, but that's more being out of sync as opposed to not taking anybody seriously.

They have beat everyone they are suppose to beat but with exception of pitt they have lost all their big matchups. I want to see them win one first before I get excited about anything. Sure they Havnt taken a bad loss yet. All 4 have been to top 10 teams but they need to show me they can win some of those

I wasn't getting excited about it I'm just glad that they're taking care of business when they should. I think with the improvement of the team over the season that they have a decent chance to beat Wisc or Minn at the end of the year. The problem PSU has RPI wise is that PSU either plays B1G teams that are top 10 or ILL, Mich & Purdue, which are the only other teams that would qualify as a decent win (top 50). This is when some top 25 wins in pre-season would have helped. Tho, it's possible that if they played MN/Nebraska more than once, that they would just lose twice instead of once. Oh well, it's one of those screwy years. Our fate is in the hands of the NCAA committee. Isn't that a scary thought.

Actually, I'm thinking that this PSU team is playing pretty close to their capabilities. Which is actually a bit better than I expected. Tori is playing her best volleyball ever at PSU IMHO. Cathey has improved a bit. Jonni is playing fabulously. Serena is playing pretty good along with Hord. Gabby is playing better, tho I find it difficult to judge her progress (more about my ability to judge it than whether she's improved). I think with the improvement of Tori in the last month and if Cathey continues to improve, this team will give just about anybody a run for their money. The weekend against Minn/Wisc will prove very interesting and informative. Give us a good idea as to where the PSU team is.

Your definition appears to be a top 10 team -- and that's reasonable. Still, I suppose Ohio State didn't qualify as a "big matchup" for Wisconsin, but they downed the Badgers 3-1. I'd say Michigan at Michigan, Illinois at Illinois, and Purdue at home were all "big matchups." But Penn State did lose its two "biggest" Big 10 matches so far, against Wisconsin and Nebraska, and OOC against Stanford. Still, I think this team is a young team that appears to be significantly improving each week.

Could't agree with you more nyline, They are getting better week by week, They charged back from 0-2 against Illinois at home, not to mention fighting off 4 match points to win 3-2, And then went to Huff Hall and swept them, if that is not improving I don't know what is.

For me it’s hard to let go of past. They set the bar so high everything else seems blah.

Some of the improvement is attributable to the way players are being used. The adjustments in many instances are subtle, but this year, some changes are readily observable even to an uncouth viewer like me. For example, I don't recall anyone else pulling the setter out of certain blocks and sending the OH all the way across to block with the middle. In addition, I suspect that part of Kendall's recent increased dig numbers result from scouting and changes to the blocking scheme.
Not much has been routine this season and it has certainly been exciting to watch.
