UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Penn State women's volleyball goes on the road for the sixth time in eight matches as it travels to Bloomington to take on Indiana on Wednesday at 8 p.m. The Nittany Lions have won 12 of their past 13 matches, including back-to-back sweeps at No. 25 Illinois and at Northwestern last weekend.
Penn State is 21-4 overall and 14-2 in the Big Ten after its most recent wins over a pair of conference opponents. During their stretch of 12 wins in 13 matches, the Lions have beaten two nationally-ranked teams -- Purdue and Illinois -- and a Michigan team that has since joined them in the national rankings. The lone loss came in five sets in a tough environment in front of a sold-out crowd at then-No. 8 Nebraska.
The Lions hit over .300 in each of their matches over the weekend, including an impressive .396 against Northwestern. In that match, five players hit at least .400 with at least eight kills.
Indiana, led by former Penn State assistant coach Steve Aird, is 13-16 overall and 2-14 in the Big Ten after dropping home matches to Maryland and Ohio State. The Hoosiers have league wins over Northwestern and Rutgers this season.
Penn State is 54-1 in the all-time series with Indiana, including a current 14-match winning steak. The Lions have won 33 consecutive sets over the Hoosiers dating back to 2012.
Kaitlyn Hord hit .611 with 12 kills in Penn State's sweep over Indiana less than two weeks ago. Serena Gray added 10 kills on .500 hitting.
